This was one of the hardest problems for me when developing It's On Meet (www.itsonmeet.com). We spent months trying to come up with a good name. Hopefully we did. It's all about making lists and lists of names and believing in them.
It's hard :) We involved 5 people, worked for hours, generated about 100 variants to come up with a name for our product.
But I understand that I can't give any useful advice :) But I know that there are whole techniques in naming and branding.
This is what we got finally:
@anna_mandziuk The approach that has helped us: change approaches. We didn't lock ourselves into any one way, but tried looking outside the world, combining words, mix them, storming dictionaries, googling, and so on.
The name of your first pet - the first two letter of your living city and ... voilà 🎉.
Joke apart, I never find a tool that is good for that. I just keep talking with coworker to find it.
Strange that I get reminded of "Pied Piper" from Silicon Valley 😂.
Jokes apart, it's almost random for me. I mostly get inspired from science-fiction films & books
Why not just name it after a day of the week, like what I did with thursday.social. ;)
Jokes aside, I have been following a framework when it comes to naming products and that has worked well for me. More about it here: https://review.firstround.com/Po...
We usually brainstorm all possible ideas and then discuss them and vote for the best options.
To expand your list you can take a keyword-based name, find synonyms, try removing or adding some letters, translate the word into other languages to see how it sounds.
The main point is to find a cool name that's short and memorable.
