I launched my project for startups and indie hackers on Product Hunt today, but I’m really disappointed that it didn’t get featured. Out of 171 products launched today, only 7 were featured.
Do you think such a strict selection process is fair? On one hand, it pushes creators to build something truly outstanding. On the other hand, it feels like so much effort just gets lost in the crowd.
@gorns It makes me nervous about our upcoming launch :( If we won't be featured we won't get any valuable feedback we need @producthunt
Can you somehow give a guidance what makes a difference to be featured?
That's a bummer, getting featured can be huge for initial traction. A few things that can help improve chances: 1) Reach out to the PH team ahead of launch to give them a heads up 2) Make sure your PH page has engaging visuals/video and really sells the core value prop 3) Mobilize your network to upvote & comment early on launch day to trigger the algorithms. Don't give up though, plenty of successful products didn't get featured. It's a marathon not a sprint! 💪
That's tough, the PH algorithm seems to favor products with a lot of upvotes and comments early on. Make sure to line up supporters to engage with your launch post quickly. Some other tips: use an eye-catching thumbnail, keep your tagline short and punchy, and make sure your first comment sells your product's value prop. Don't get discouraged, keep iterating and aim for great reviews from your initial users! You got this 💪
