First it became difficult to find what you were looking for in Google results. Recently they made adjustments to search settings.
The old - and good way went like this:
- You wanted to look up a location, you googled it, you clicked on Google Maps and you saw what you wanted.
- You checked out a restaurant, you googled it, you clicked on the little Google Maps preview and you were directed to the location in Google Maps.
- You checked destinations, you googled it, you clicked Flights above results and you saw flights you could book without too much effort.
Now:
- You're curious about a location, you have to check Google Maps directly because Google won't direct you to GMaps.
- You wanna find that restaurant. Cool! Here's a microscopic png for the preview of the GMaps location, good luck figuring that out! Again, you have to go to Google Maps if you wanna know where to find that place.
- You wanna find flights, here's a bunch of irrelevant results and irrelevant search settings on top. You have to manually navigate to Google Flights to see what you're looking for.
I find myself using AI solutions, such as Perplexity more often than Google for basic information. Now Google is so annoying to use for the rest even.
Am I the only one noticing this?
