When I was building a Tech focused Community for Facebook, we used to organize: 1. Monthly Hackathons -Twice (Online/Offline) 2. Quarterly Planned Themed Workshops for eg: Data Science for community, we used to organize one Technical Workshop per week over the span of three months. 3. Community Call where we used to organize quiz & games.

I'm just starting off being a host. It's rather irregular initiative though.
