How can we manage and continuously update the design system while the product keeps evolving?

As the product evolves, the design components also need to evolve. However, there comes a point where managing this becomes quite challenging. Could you please share your process for addressing this issue? Currently, in Figma, I create new components and label them as pop-modal / V1 or pop-modal / V2 for each update.
