Have you ever thought that AI would replace software engineers?

by

With tools like Claude Soneet 3.7 getting insanely good at generating code and solving complex problems, I can’t help but wonder: Will AI eventually replace software engineers, or just change the way we work?

I’ve started using Claude Soneet 3.7 myself, and it’s a game-changer for speeding up repetitive tasks. But at the same time, it made me think about the future of coding jobs. Will engineers become less relevant, or will we just evolve to work alongside AI?

Would love to hear your experiences and thoughts! Are you using AI in your workflow? Do you see it as a productivity booster or a potential threat?

Personally, I believe there’s something irreplaceable about human creativity and problem-solving, but I’m curious to hear other perspectives. Let’s chat!

IMO, many software engineers will eventually disappear. Only those who can craft effective prompts and leverage AI-generated results to create something even better will survive.

@kay_arkain I agree, software engineers will remain at the forefront, building on AI and more advanced technologies. However, those focused on simpler tasks will need to explore other solutions.

While AI can write code, it lacks the deeper understanding of business needs, ethics, and user experience that engineers provide.

Think of AI as an intern it can do repetitive tasks but it still needs guidance from experienced engineers.

I don't think so that AI will replace engineers

I think it will, except those working on the "next big thing" or life changing software (hospitals, military, etc.) that still require human validation and review. AGI could change that. Those who know how to use AI will replace those who don't.
