Does Product Hunt need a private message feature?
I personally feel Product Hunt needs a no link Private chat to make connecting with other makers easier.
What do you think?

Honestly if it needs to be sent via DM, it probably doesn’t belong on PH. I love the community dynamic here, and I attribute a large part of it to open, honest discussion 👊

I think that the PH idea is about OPEN COMMUNITY. That's why we have discussions and not private messages

for instance you must have at least 200 points to send a DM and each new DM is like 50 Point
@repreneur because we had it and it was full with spam and requests about supporting a launch and more. That's why it was discontinued!

Interesting question. I don't think PH needs a DM feature. Otherwise, it will just become a LinkedIn for makers. Discussions are a great way to share here on PH. With DMs I'm scared to be spammed with people promoting their product and asking for upvotes.
@cica_laure_mbappe The fear is something i've noticed but PH Has a points system and the Points shows how long and active you are. How about using those points to DM for example it costs 50 points to open a chat and you can also choose to turn on or off the feature

I think that will fade out the essence of open communities on PH. It's good to be transparent and open about asking and helping!

I think if private messaging is encouraged, the USP of PH will get lost somewhere...
No way, everything has DMs now, I would never see them and lose important connections
@repreneur it will invite a lot of spammer, community is better this way IMO if anyone spams the DEV's can easily take action
It actually used to exist, but as others have pointed out PH is about the community and not the individual links! People have Twitter to connect person-to-person. The more open discussions are, the better quality they have the opportunity to become!
