What are the most effective pre-launch marketing tactics you use to build hype?

I've tried/am trying: - FB ads - LinkedIn Prospecting - Email Blasts - Forum Posts (like this one :D) - Social Media - Content Marketing - Events (Throwing and Going, when this was possible) They all work in their own ways, but on small scales (before it gets expensive). What kinds of strategies, tactics, techniques, tips, have you tried and seen work?

You should always start with the community. Ads can help you with testing, but a focused group of people will provide you feedback on your product even before you create it.
