You asked for communities to be more open, public, and searchable – and we listened. We’re proud to introduce Frond 2.0, which now offers public communities. With public communities, visitors can view all groups and content without having to sign into Frond, offering greater visibility into your community. This not only improves discoverability but also promotes conversion from visitors to active members. Plus, your community content can now be indexed by search engines. While public communities are the major highlight, they are just one of the numerous features we've been busy building: - Direct messaging for 1:1 communication - Search capabilities - Advanced community permissions - Private groups - Polls, roles, and pretty community URLs - Pinned posts to highlight important content - Activity digests to keep your community updated - Welcome posts and member introductions - Community insights dashboard - Rich commenting - Localization in German, Spanish, French, and English - Plus approximately 858 other improvements and fixes For those of you who have previously tried Frond, we'd be thrilled if you gave us another try. Our product has seen significant advancements since we launched the first Beta, and we’re confident you’ll appreciate the changes. In case you missed it, we announced last week that we are open-sourcing Frond – underscoring our belief in the power of community and user autonomy. You can read our announcement at: https://bit.ly/frond-open-source Your feedback is the cornerstone of our progress. If you have any thoughts, queries, or suggestions, please let us know, or better yet, join our customer community at https://frond.com/frond and share it with everyone. We’re always eager to hear from you. Thank you for being a part of our journey. Together, let's build stronger, more vibrant communities! The Frond Team

So it's a forum as a service? Sort of? I'm curious: Any examples of popular communities using this out there?
Jan Senderek
@sentry_co Yes, sort of exactly! :) Now that we are supporting public communities, we'll be sharing examples over the coming weeks. Make sure to join our customer community to stay in the loop!

Launching soon!
Congrats on the the Front 2.0 launch @jans! πŸš€ My co-founder and I have been interested in building a community for users of our product. However, managing engagement and moderation seems time-consuming and difficult, given our limited bandwidth. A couple of questions: 1. Are there plans to incorporate AI-driven features to facilitate engagement and community moderation? 2. One of my biggest obstacles in joining a new community or forum is creating an account and learning how to use another product, compared to joining Slack, Reddit, etc. How do you envision overcoming this potential friction? Best of luck with the venture!
Matthew Blackshaw
@jans @mariakova Hey Maria! We are working on some AI powered features right now that help community leaders build engagement, so stay tuned. We've tried to make the product even simpler to use and pickup as Slack / Reddit / Discord, but if we're always looking for ways to improve if you've got any feedback!
Steven Roennfeldt
I stumbled across Frond a week ago after searching for a community platform for waaaaay too long. Great functionality, awesome features on the roadmap and the team are very responsive and open to feedback. I’m extremely happy with my choice to use Frond moving forward.
Jan Senderek

We love Frond 2.0! UX and UI are impeccable and it feels amazing to work with a firm that is so radically customer focussed like these guys. The truly listen and that is really rare. Chapeau!!

Matthew Blackshaw
@halina_makeeva Thank you!!
Vishal Reddy
So it's basically Slack without all the clusterfuck present there. Also curious why limit members to 50 on the free plan? Won't it kind of decrease usability for small creators and reduce the adoption rate?
Matthew Blackshaw
@vishalreddy21 That's right! We've put a lot of effort into fixing some of the issues with Slack for larger communities. We've found that 50 members is enough to get started for a lot of creators – and we're also a small startup that needs revenue to keep the servers running. :)
Igor Boky
Congrats on the launch! I really in love with UI you made! As I understand it is open sourced, so I can host it mu own machine if I need for any size of community?
Jan Senderek
@igorboky Thanks, Igor! Yes, we're committed to going open source. Read more about that on our blog post here (https://frond.com/frond/post/115...). But yes, that is the goal - you will be able to self-host Frond.
Matthew Blackshaw
@igorboky We've committed to going open source (we have a little work to do on the codebase), but yes after that you'll be able to self host! You can read more about that here: https://frond.com/frond/post/115...

Best of luck, Jan & Frond Team. Congratulations on your Launch πŸš€!
Vlad Volianskyi
Seems interesting, but I'll be honest: I'd put the open communities themselves at the front, before any registrations or sign up forms. This way you kinda replicate the successful Reddit formula, but with a more personal twist. Let the communities do the promotion for you, and either way - congrats with the launch and I wish you reaching the stars quicker - I LOVE some of the design choices you've made in the community management screen itself.
Jan Senderek
@soomie Good thinking, Vlad. Now that we've launched public communities, we'll likely promote these more, just like you're suggesting! Thanks so much for the support!
Huy Doan
Congrats guys on the launch! Like the idea and definitely try it later!
Matthias Link
@huy_doan_quang Thank you for the support, Huy!

Naveed Rehman
Congratulations on the launch. It looks really impressive. How is it better than FB private groups?
Sandra Djajic
What languages will you expand on firstly? Congratulations on the launch :)
Jan Senderek
@sandradjajic We're adding languages as they're requested by our users, likely Italian and Portuguese being the next ones. Which language would you like us to support?
