Hit the brakes on those faux projects and dive into the thick of health, trot into travel triumphs, and gear up for transportation feats. Ready to get your hands dirty with actual issues that matter?
You finish a boot camp with 0 projects that you can show and start applying with yet another redesign of YouTube, and wonder “Why am I not getting any responses”.
Fear not.
We created the Product Design challenges for people like you.
Stop the unsolicited redesigns of famous apps, and try and solve a real problem in the world.
Document your process and share it with hiring managers so they can see you have some experience in the industry.
This is perfect if you:
👨🏼🎓 Are a student and want to transition into UX design
💪 Are an industry pro and want to switch fields, or try something new
🧑🎨 Are a PM and want to transition into design
💵 And most importantly, the challenges are FREE of charge.
Looking forward to seeing what you’ll design.
Totally impressed! Being an engineering tutor, I am thinking about incorporating it in our project-based learning workshops. Anything would you like to suggestion?
Everything Denislav does is high quality so I cannot wait to check this out :D. Legend in the design space. Do you think this could get someone totally new up to speed on design or is it for more experienced folks ???
Challenges like this encourage the designer to consider the entire user experience and how all the pieces connect. I've written about why the daily UI challenge isn't as effective (https://medium.com/user-experien...) because it only has new designers considering one piece, not how it all works as a holistic experience. This is definitely something I'll be recommending!
@dan_sapio Indeed, the daily UI challenge is good, but it locks you into one vertical. Which is not bad if that's the only thing you want to improve, but in order to design effective software you need to think holistically about every aspect of design.
When I woke up this morning. Literally had the thought of how can I create design challenges to show off, got your notification 📣 and was like…. “Is my government worker listening to me again”?
Congratulations on your product launch! It's fantastic to see such an innovative approach to tackling real-world challenges in health, travel, and transportation. Can't wait to see the positive impact this will bring! 🚀🌟
UILearn Design Challenges caught my eye! Solving actual problems in health, travel, and transportation is a brilliant approach to building a portfolio. Can you provide more details on how participants can engage with these challenges and showcase their solutions? Upvoted and looking forward to taking on meaningful design projects!
This is so cool! Can't wait to share with with a good friend of mine that's just began his journey as a UX designer! I think he'll be really thrilled to get some actual work done after taking so many courses
This looks great. Well impressed with the site.
Two thoughts:
1. Minor UX point: your first sub-catagory on the site is 'Automotive', but this category has no results. I guess you might want to consider conditional rendering of sub-categories only if they have challenges within them
2. GDPR compliance: when you ask for name & email to gain access, I presume you're signing me up to a mailing list? If so, to comply with GDPR in Europe you must tell me this is the case, otherwise you could be opening yourself up to a whopping legal bill. V simple change and I would have signed up anyway :)
Hope that's helpful feedback. It looks awesome and I'm really excited to see how you get on!
@james_kuht thanks for the feedback, the automotive must be a bug need to investigate it. As for GDPR, everybody receives an email asking if they want to be subscribed to the mailing list as its double opt in
@denislav_jeliazkov no problem at all, great product.
Re: GDPR - GDPR states that you must be specific in informing users they're signing up for a mailing list (this wasn't the case - you just asked for my name and email, there was no mention of mailing list nor opportunity to opt out - which is mandatory in EU). I also didn't receive your email asking if I wanted to be subscribed. More here: https://www.iubenda.com/en/help/....
Ultimately I personally don't mind at all - I'm just trying to help :)
Finally, I found something which is the need of mine. Redesigning is good but creating something new and solving real world problems is amazing. Great work and congrats on the launch!
This is so cool! I love how you are not only proposing real-world problems to solve but also providing insight into their solution discovery. Is there a way to share your solution with others or check how others solved the same challenge? It might be interesting to provide some templates that designers could use to present their solutions in the most compelling/effective way :) Good luck!
Incredible initiative! I really appreciate the spirit of this project as it offers designers a practical opportunity to get hands-on experience and create valuable design projects for their portfolios, especially when they don't have much to showcase yet. I'm particularly intrigued to see how this could evolve into something even bigger: a community learning experience, where people from various fields collaborate on the same challenges — just like in real life. The potential for leveling up is immense. Excited to see where this leads! Congrats @denislav_jeliazkov
