Franz 2.0 — Desktop app for Slack, WhatsApp, Skype, Telegram, Messenger
Franz 2.0 is a desktop app that puts messaging services altogether in one place. It can combine apps like WhatsApp, Slack, Facebook Messenger, WeChat, HipChat, Skype and a lot more. You can even use multiple accounts for the Facebook Messenger - mix your business profiles and your private ones if you need to.

@bentossell, @ricricucit, @__tosh we have now updated our website to reflect our new versioning system. If you are running on 0.9.10 you are already running 2.0 – with the next update this versioning change will be visible within Franz as well. Sorry for confusing you.
@__tosh This is killer. Easy access without flipping between tabs or stand alone apps is a huge convenience. Look forward to customizing notification sounds...
Been using Franz for a few weeks now - 2 Slack teams, Skype, Messenger and Wechat. Downloading the update now.
Oh wait. Confused. Franz 2.0 is the Windows Linux beta, Franz Mac is still 0.9.10 beta?
@frassmith 0.9.10 on our website is 2.0 – we are currently changing our versioning to show progress in a less confusing way

@frassmith That also got me startled a bit. My guess is that if you see WeChat (Gitter etc.) support you are actually having 2.0, even though it says 0.9.1. Not sure though. cc @smalzner
@originell @frassmith we changed our versioning, internal it's still 0.9.10 = 2.0 our website is now updated to reflect the changes. Sorry for confusing anyone.
Stefan Am I right that Franz just open browser tabs inside + nice UI above it? What about memory usage? Slack itself is a huge memory eater.
@vladkorobov you are right! Due to the use of chromium in the background the memory usage of Franz is high but still less than running every app on it's own. We haven't started with optimizing the processor and memory use of Franz yet but we believe that there is still room for improvement :)

@smalzner Any plans to make this a W10 universal app? Much prefer apps over full desktop software most of the time...
@robtregaskes we have plans to provide Franz for the Windows Store and Mac AppStore – but there are still some limitations with W10 universal apps we need to look into before we can make a proper estimate.

Only downfall of me using Franz over Slack's app is that http://jmitch.com/serenity no longer works. @smalzner would love to integrate the app with Franz. Sometimes I need to mute those pesky notification sounds!
@itsthisjustin we will add more customization options soon and muting the notification sound is one of them :)
@smalzer you have to charge money for this. This is so awesome. Telegram is a little buggy but what's app and fb messenger rock solid.
I have no idea how Telegram works with developers of third party clients, but it has been my understanding that they're pretty open and the large majority of their feature set is available to tap into. With that said, is it possible to support Telegram's "secret chats" feature in Franz?
@bleachedsleet we currently use their webinterface, as soon as they officially integrate secret chats you'll have it in Franz.
this is a great product --- reminds me of meebo from back in the day --- things get fragmented and then come together with a consolidation like this --- cool!
Never check all applications for whether inboxed or not. These apps like Station and Stack that curate applications and localize that desktop app increase recently. The app does not give notifications from the applications involved.
Pros:All-in-one management communication
Cons:No support for Japanese tools like ChatWork and LINE
Any plans to support AIM chat in this app? I still have a few people that I talk with regularly on AIM so hard for me to ditch something like Adium .
@deronsizemore @ericnakagawa sooner or later we will support most of the messenger platforms out there, including AIM ;)
@nilsej let's start with Franz allows multiple accounts of one service, integrates native notifications with muting/customization options, it's easy to tab-to, doesn't get closed by accident and we are constantly updating Franz with new features that will make messaging much easier.
If you want to compare Franz with Chrome then yes, it's "just" a browser but with a huge difference: Franz is actually optimized for the use with messenger/communication services.
I wish Franz to have the real "Do Not Disturb" feature... and password protection?

I had some notifications issues with the previous version, that's why i stop using it. But it's still a great app, so maybe i'll give it another try.
@jimmyvergerolle are you running Franz on Mac, Windows or Linux? If you are still having problems, please contact me directly and we'll find a way to solve your issues :)
@smalzner I'm on Mac. I reinstall the app today, i'll use it for couple of days and tell you if i still have the issue.
I can't believe I'm just coming across this app now. It's just brilliant and I've added in Whatsapp, Telegram, Skype, Slack, LinkedIn, Facebook Messenger and Facebook Pages. I'm a big user of Allo and although that doesn't have a web client just yet (I'm hoping it does soon), please can we add that in the moment it's ready? :) Also, it would be fantastic if we could have iMessage (not sure if that's allowed) and Twitter DMs + Mentions? Keep up the amazing work
