Forrest makes running and cycling more fun and challenging by adding an element of competition. It turns your runs and rides into races by letting you compete in real-time against virtual opponents or even your own personal bests and previous races.
@marketplicity That’s great to hear, Chris! We’ve got a lot of ideas on our roadmap and integration with stationary bikes and treadmills is definitely among them. If it has an API, we’d like to integrate with it!
Hi Hunters 👋
I'm Adam, the co-creator of Forrest. We're really excited to finally bring you this fun new way to run and cycle.
You're probably wondering what makes Forrest different from all the other fitness tracking apps. Well let me tell you…
🚴♂️🏃♀️ Forrest turns your runs and rides into races by giving you someone to complete against. Here's how it works:
1. Choose from a selection of preloaded race types or create a custom race event. ⏱
2. Add virtual opponents in the form of ghost-racers that'll run or ride at a speed you choose. 🦿
3. Add your personal best times or previous race results to race against yourself.
4. Race! 🚴♀️🏃♂️💨
5. Hear audio prompts on your race progress while you run or ride: 📣
• "You've over taken your personal best to take 1st place."
• "That's 30 mins. You've completed 5.3km."
6. Win! 🏁 Get faster and fitter. 💪
7. Review your race with 🗺 maps, 📈 graphs, and 🔗 export to Strava or ❤️ Apple Health.
We'd love for you to give Forrest a go and let us know what you think. 🙏
@adamswinden Unfortunately I'm going to have to wait for the Android client! I only have an iPad to run this on iOS and that may be a bit bulky for my morning jog!
Congrats on the launch! Really cool UI. I was curious to understand how you differ from an app like Strava? Is every run/ride converted to a race and shows race related metrics while in progress?
If not, we can log a run on Strava and compare with our previous bests or those of others too right?
Am I missing something? Sorry I can't try out the app coz I'm on Android so had to ask here
@nitish_reddy1 Thanks Nitish.
Forrest is all about the real-time race, so yes, as long as you’ve added some opponents, every run and ride becomes a race. You get real-time progress of your race including your current position and how far ahead/behind your opponents are.
That includes audio updates so you can stay focused on your workout without having to check your phone.
After the race you can export the data to Strava so you can still get the Kudos you deserve. You can’t import data at the moment because, as I say, it’s all about the real-time race, but we are looking at ways we can add more functionality here.
@adamswinden Okay I get it now! Actually, coming to think of it, I would love this!
Just another idea I wanted to share! Are you also looking at some sort of integrations with fitness watches like Garmin, FitBit, or Apple/Android Watches. I normally run without a phone and have my watch connect to a headphones directly! So basically, I was wondering if I can just use Forrest from the watch itself without the need for a phone. Not sure if all the different watches allow for this kind of integrations but if they do, I would certainly love it.
@nitish_reddy1 Hi Nitish, watch support is definitely something we are looking into, as you say it’s nice to have the freedom to run / ride without your phone weighing you down.

This is a pretty cool idea!
You don't need to feel bad about losing a race against yourself. You only lose because YOU were faster than YOU. So in fact YOU win either way! :D
More seriously though, great work! A fun idea well implemented that is sure to help people improving their track times and fitness.
@dawny
Thanks for the feedback Aušrius. It’s great to hear from you and that’s exactly why we created Forrest. To help you improve and progress your time or distance while still keeping it fun and challenging!
Woah, this is actually so fucking cool. Pardon the swearing. I'm so excited to see this grow into something very big, which I'm sure it will! Great job.
