1. Plant together: plant a tree with your friends. If anyone uses his/her phone, everyone's tree will die.

2. Forest timeline: track every moment of your planting journey.

3. Phone usage: keep track of the time you spend on your phone each day.

4. iPad support

I'm a long-time fan of Forest. One of the few apps I keep on my home screen. Keep up the great work Team Forest!

Curious, where do they get their revenue to donate to tree planting organizations?
AmyJeng
@joshuapinter Only premium users (i.e. iOS users and the Android users who pay for the premium version) can plant real trees in the app. And we donate a part of the revenue from those purchases to plant real trees with our tree-planting partner, Trees for the Future.

I really love this app, been using it for years. Love the group sessions feature, really helps when using the app in revision sessions. Can't recommend it more if you need to get off your phone!

Pros:

- Works great and keeps you maintaining focus

- Works on both iPad and iPhone

- Awesome Chrome extension available

- Trees sync over devices

Cons:

- None!

Why is the iOS version paid, but Android is free?

@connectone Android users don’t spend money on apps. (in fact. Android users as a whole barely even *use* apps, or even browse the internet). Just look at ustwo’s report on Monument Valley: http://blog.monumentvalleygame.c...

@connectone @cenk "Android users"; bit of a generalisation there. I'm an Android user, and I'd be happy to spend money on a good app. My friends, too. Anyway; I get your point, but still

@connectone Like @cenk said, most of the Android users are not used to spend money on downloading apps from Google Play. And another concern we care about is that Android apps are easily cracked and distributed. If the app was pay-to-download, you would find the free version of the app everywhere. As the result, we set the price of the Android version to free but with limited features and with some ads. Users can unlock the whole features via in-app purchase. We find this is a good strategy especially in some chaotic markets like China (Google Play is not available in China. Instead, there are dozens of local app markets that sell your app for free without notifying the developers). I hope my explanation will help. And thank you very much for leaving comments here :)

I like the app overall, I’m a premium user and I’m quite satisfied with the app. Although I wish we had more ‘fun’ things to do. I feel like majority of the users use forest for studies and for getting tasks done, I wish forest had more events which would motivate us. For eg. the tree that came out in New Years(2022), the blue one. It was super fun coz so many us wanted to work harder to get the tree. I wish events like those came out more often. Or maybe something like group challenges(where we join a group and the challenge is to get 15 hours of Focus time this week, and maybe like different groups for different hours, and each group gets a different tree when the challenge gets completed). Apart from that Forest is great the way it is! From the idea, to the simplicity, everything is great!
