This looks like an awesome product! My wife started using reusable pads a year or so ago and absolutely swears by them now. People are always a bit freaked out about washing them when she mentions it to them but it's actually not a big issue. I'm definitely going to show her these. She says that the reusable pads reduced the flow of her periods (something to do with chemicals in the disposable ones apparently) is this myth or is there some evidence to support it?
Paige Fashoni
@realdeanward Hey Dean! Lots of women say that reusable menstrual products including cloth pads and period underwear like ours, reduce menstrual cramps. This is because the sustainable and natural materials do not contain the bleaches, toxins and chemicals that disposables do. The chemicals in disposable pads and tampons are used to whiten the materials and draw menstrual fluid away from the body at a fast rate and into the disposable pad/tampon, but in the process, have been known to irritate and dry out the vagina, causing increased pain/cramps. As for reducing the flow of periods, period underwear and reusable options like cloth pads tend to absorb much more than disposable pads absorb, and so it may seem like the flow is a lot less than when using disposables. So glad you like the look of FLUX Undies, and hope you spread the word with your friends & family! Would love to answer any other Q's you might have :) Kindest, Paige

As someone who has worked with teams promoting menstrual hygiene (or, other gynaecological products of this nature) in the past, I think I can offer you some relevant feedback. I think the promo video displayed your product's capabilities (capacities) very well. I'm accepting at face (demo video) value all the awesome features of your product. But, there are other boxes the buyer checks before handing you her custom. First, and most important, is the reluctance to shift from the current method she employs. Hence, it would make sense for you to target the school-girl segment of your territory first, where there is more openness toward newer/ innovative offerings. That being the case, you will need to make a new product video, as this seems way racier for the average school girl. If you look around you will find plenty of menstrual hygiene videos that target school girls, and get an idea of how they work, and how you could fit your product into a similar promotional film. Of course, this present video is perfectly geared toward young adults, but your acceptance rate among them will not be that high [as compared to teens]. Perhaps, if you use validated testimonials, and user case studies, there will be better receptivity. This is a definite case for handing out, literally handing out as freebies, some of your stuff to influencers on Instagram; and that should be your bread-and-butter marketing expenditure. Remember, this is a recurring expenditure for your customer over several decades; so your LTV is going to be sky-high. Also, this is the kind of product that calls for a heavy dose of marketing and promotion. That being the case, you should go back to the drawing board and reframe your marketing strategy. Perhaps, (if you are not already amply funded by self or pre-seed), you could reach out to Angels with this pitch. tl, dr; your product has potential, but only some deft marketing and promotion is going to put it on the shelves.

@chuckbrandt1991 wow! Thank you so much for taking the time to give such in depth feedback. It’s greatly appreciated. As a start up company, we are at the very beginning of our journey so your feedback is very helpful and will be taken on board. I think you are definitely right in the fact that this type of product calls for a heavy marketing spend, and a different marketing approach. We are focusing on breaking the taboo around periods and revolutionising the way in which periods are experienced, and so speaking with girls in school and teaching them about alternative menstrual products is definitely something we will be implementing in the near future. Thanks again for your feedback it really is appreciated and very helpful information. Kindest, Paige Fashoni.

I have no idea about the product (well, thats no surprise )) but after reading through Q&A I have to to point out the ethics of the makers! well done, 100% vegan, 0% animal, environment friendly, hygienic, antibacterial and I presume very safe to use! Bravo! btw, the link for a question "What size I am?" is not working https://www.fluxundies.com/pages...
Paige Fashoni
@kura955 hi Kura! Thanks so much for your feedback and kind words! It’s so nice to hear that what we’re doing is appreciated especially where ethics are concerned as that is very important to us, which is why we use sustainable materials, and ensure our underwear is made ethically in the UK. Thanks for the heads up on the sizing page being down, we’ve fixed this now :) Kindest, Paige at FLUX

How much is it?
Paige Fashoni
@astghik_azaryan between £26 and £28 depending on which style. They last over three years, so just think of all the money you’ll be saving on pads, tampons, and stained undies!

So, to be honest, these look like a copy of THINX, down to the visuals and marketing style. The detachable ones are unique as far as I know and actually a great idea. The think is that many things on the website are broken. On the homepage there's an article that instead of an image thumbnail has a "no image" placeholder with a "forbidden" sign. The links in the FAQ don't work. How do I purchase and more importantly how do I trust your company if the "find your size" and "check shipping fees outside the UK" links redirect to error pages?
Paige Fashoni
@anna_0x Hey Anna! Thanks for your feedback. FLUX actually fully replace pads & tampons, rather than providing 'back-up' as Thinx do. Our underwear is leak-proof rather than leak-resistant, which means that it can be worn alone even during heavy days - that's a big difference between us and Thinx. Also, as you know, we offer the detachable style which allows women to change easily in even the most inconvenient places. Of course, this is a growing market, so there will be new brands popping up, and I don't think thats a bad thing. In fact, I think it's great and about time that there's finally alternative menstrual products available for women! Thank you for letting us know about the site, we are aware and are working on it at the moment. Please can you send us the link for "check shipping fees outside the UK" as I wasn't aware of such a link? Thanks again for the feedback, much appreciated! :)
Anna Filou
@paige_katrina_fashoni Hey, the name of the links is paraphrased, I could not recall the exact wording. I meant this one (copy pasting): "Can I order internationally? Of course! FLUX was made for women all around the world. You can find shipping rates and times, here." It works now, the rest of the links too. Thinx also advertises their underwear as period-proof, not as backup. I wouldn't know how good they are since I've never tried them. I see you offer free shipping in the EU for orders above a certain price, which is a big plus, so I might go with your product :)
Paige Fashoni
@anna_0x Thinx actually advertise them as leak-resistant rather than leak proof, and holding up to 2 tampons' worth rather than 4, so worn as a replacement during lighter days and back-up for people who bleed heavily :) Would love to hear your feedback if you decide to try ours!
Anna Filou
@paige_katrina_fashoni hey, I'm literally copy-pasting this from the homepage of Thinx: "period-proof underwear that works". It's the first line of text on their website. They do say they hold 2 tampons though, that's true. I will let you know my thoughts if I get them :)

Not that I don't agree with trying the younger generation in order to have more open-mindedness.. period underwear are quickly becoming 'popular' due to feminist brands like THINX... who after quite a few lines, as well as Iconic (same idea but for urine) are just now rolling out their pre-teen line.

So far so good. No leaks and wash up well :-D

Pros:

reusable forever with no bad consequences to our environment

Cons:

reusable forever with no bad consequences to our environment

I leaked after 2 hours on my heaviest days. I have THINX pants too and I can see no real differences between the knickers other than the THINX knickers are much more comfortable to wear. THINX do not protect me entirely on my heavy days either, but I don't expect them to as they only say they act as a back-up. However, because I don't expect them to, I don't rely on them and only wear them on my medium/light days and therefore have never leaked. Also because the crotch is wider, I don't have side-seepage.

I really wanted to like the FLUX underwear because they are a UK based company, but I found the designs to be poor; the crotch is too narrow and is also quite bulky for a medium day. If they delivered what they said and did replace 4 tampons worth then the bulk would be worth it, but they don't.

There also don't seem to be any 'standard' kind of knickers for those of us who don't like frills etc. The boy style come with a horrible tagline of FLUX all around the band, the detachable cut into my hips too much and the bikini's have a lace border. It's great to have a range, but it would be an idea to have a simple standard FLUX knicker for those of us who need comfort on our period days.

The customer service leaves a lot to be desired too. I understand that FLUX is a start-up company, but that really is no excuse for the cascade of issues I've had as a campaign backer.

Pros:

Environmentally friendly in terms of being reusable

Cons:

They leaked and they are uncomfortable

Yolanda Hope

i've been using these underwear for four periods and i have to say i can't believe i wore pads or tampons for so long!!! the underwear is comfortable to wear and feels and washes just like normal. i can finally go a whole night with no leaks and not have stains on my sheets when i wake up in the morning. i'm definitely converted and so happy that i no longer have to buy or use chemically charged, uncomfortable disposable tampons or sanitary towels!!!

Pros:

better for the environment, comfortable, saves money, all good!!!

Cons:

none

Jasmine Daniels

Used 2 or 3 months now

Pros:

Comfortable Hygenic Easy to use Environmentally friendly Comfy Detachable

Cons:

On heavy days they still need to be changed every 4-5 hours and leak around the edges Have to find a washing machine

Bianca Hazzard

I started using these about 4 months ago. I first wanted to use them only to sleep in but now I use them all the time because they are SO comfortable. I haven't leaked in them yet. Longest I have worn them is probably about 10 hours. On a scale of 1-5, I am probably a 3/4 in terms of how heavy. These have literally changed my life & I really think they have somehow reduced my period pain.

Pros:

Comfortable. Enviro friendly. Reduce my period pain.

Cons:

Tough. Erm maybe bring out singles sizes instead of dual?

Danielle Suro

Used these for around 6 months and they make my periods sooooo much easier and more comfortoable. And i can finally sleep through the night and wake up to fresh sheets!!

Pros:

Comfortable to wear, eco friendly, less period pain, easy to use

Cons:

I don't have any cons

Ellie Hope

My time of the month has become so much easier to deal with. The only thing I can say about these is it just feels like you're not even on your period. They are AMAZING. I can never ever go back. I'm so happy you have a light version too!

Pros:

Quality, Customer Service, Re-usable, Comfortable

Cons:

Maybe bring out more colours

tore when they were put on for the first time, no refund because they were used, unfriendly customer service, the environment is our biggest concern, products have to last long, not tear at first use.

It's hard to rate a product that i paid for and supported the development of but never received. I had high hopes for this product because I was tired of wearing pads and tampons. However all those hopes were dashed because they continue to email me empty promises while they send out products to others. Even for a refund I'm not given a time frame. I've been told just to wait and it will eventually happen. While I would love to support their product, I can't. The way they've treated me means I will never again give them my money. Fortunately I've found a different established company who responds promotely, offers refunds to dissatisfied customers, and mails out their products super fast. I cannot recommend FLUX when compared to this other company. I'm still waiting to hear back from their Kickstarter team and that was 2 months ago.

PL do not order the flux undies from website. They are a fraud company and keep saying that the courier is with Royal mail but even after two months you will not your parcel and your money will be lost.
Cherie Ade
(Ignore the frowning face, it should be smiling). The pants are great. I have a moderate to heavy flow on the first 2 days and didn't experience leaks. I had a bit of a technical problem online which someone got back to me about eventually so I was happy that it got sorted out :) The rep was very apologetic and outlined the necessary measures she would take to sort the problem out. I'll certainly be buying again!

OH MY GOD. I am so happy that I FINALLY can feel good on my period. These pants are A-MAZING!!! I can wear them all day on my first day where I bleed ALOT and I have no leaks and feel dry. Have had really good experience with the team as well so I cant comment on the reviews above - doesn't sound like the same company to be honest!! So happy with my purchase and so happy I've found this great UK based company!! yay!
