Prefab app builder. Combining visual editing with open-source extensibility. Powerful logic, data integration and security features that have been stress tested by Fliplet's enterprise client base. Why re-invent the wheel, use prefabs for 90%, custom code 10%.

This is really cool! What are the technologies used and types of open source components supported? i.e. React Native.
Ben WS
@lnchoi That's a great question. We'd love to use react native but the reality is that our clients need to be able to extend the platform with the minimum learning curve possible. They may not be developers. And using things like XCode on a Microsoft work computer is typically too difficult to countenance. As such the platform can be extended with typical web languages - Javascript, HTML, CSS - which have huge amounts of support, tutorials, code snippets etc. This also has the benefit that many web languages fail gracefully - ie, if a user has created a bug you can still run the app but perhaps a single component will not be displayed.

@colinwinhall How has your experience been with this?

@ben_wynne_simmons Is there anything new since flipjet last launched?
Ben WS
@aaronoleary just confirming I replied to this above.
Francoo
hey there, congrats on launch ! Why should i use this instead og @dvdsgl Glide apps ? Cheers !
Ben WS
@francoolaami many thanks (although it feels like we launched quite a while ago!!). I'm not a power user of glide but my understanding is that they're a great tool for converting spreadsheets into apps. This is done by attaching the data to a spreadsheet. We have a similar feature which we call Lists from Datasources (not a very catchy name!). Where we differ is a templates based approach doesn't work for our core enterprise client base. They typically want to custom create their apps at a more fundamental feature level (ie re-arranging how data is displayed to a fine degree of control). So we offer greater flexibility over screen and feature layout and styling/branding. The other key difference is the ability to extend the platform. This is a key part of our "prefab" offering. Yes we offer prebuilt templates, features and components but as soon as you want to add highly custom workflow logic (ie, if I click this, then save that data and send an app notification to xyz) you can do this relatively easily. Ultimately I think Glide is great for creating very simple apps quickly and easily. We've historically focussed on large enterprise clients where the emphasis has been on power and customisation. I hope that helps

Great job! Your pricing model might need some adjusting, though - might be cost prohibitive.
Ben WS
@jwgs - cheers James. At the moment we offer quite a comprehensive customer support services (which is preferred for enterprise clients but unfortunately is expensive). We're working hard to bring more self-serve tools into the offering so that we can drop the price. We'll let you know when we do!
Josh Chopak
I've been looking for something like this, will give it a shot!
Ben WS
@jchopak great - please use the chat feature in Fliplet studio if you need any help
Jim Canto
@jchopak @ben_wynne_simmons Live help chat directly in the studio sounds fantastic! What are the support hours currently?
Ben WS
@jimcanto what are you planning!? πŸ˜‰ As you might imagine there are better response rates for paying customers but we are lucky enough to have a great support team that typically responds to free users pretty quickly. The details of different support hours per pricing package are here (at the bottom): https://fliplet.com/pricing/
Jim Canto
@ben_wynne_simmons ... ahhh, so it's not necessarily "live" .. I see. I respect that. I was surprised (I read your reply as "live chat".. my bad) as I understand how heavy the cost can be to have folks ready to respond instantly. I have zero problem with your tiered offering and Intercom support. I look forward to trying your product some day.
Larry Bates
Is this something where a fairly simple quiz-type ability and to award badges?
Ben WS
@larry_bates. Yes this is something our clients have done before but unfortunately not in a single click. If I was to guess, what you're describing is a form component (ie a Q&A quiz) with the answers saved to a datasource. The you'd probably want to create a user profile page which displays static data (name, profile image, title etc) and some non-static dynamic images (badges) based on some custom workflow logic (ie, open datasource, look up user, compute their answer score, if it meets a hurdle then display a badge - if not don't). So yes this can be done but it does involve the combination of several features.
Ben WS
Thanks for the share @colinwinhall. I work at Fliplet - how do we get linked as the Makers? If anyone has a question please shout or just sign up for a free account and try it out.
Colin Winhall
@ben_wynne_simmons I see that Aaron has added you as a maker :-) If you have the product hunt username of anyone else just tag them and I can also add them as makers.
Ben WS
@colinwinhall many thanks!
Ben WS
@aaronoleary - we were hunted approximately 6 years ago so it's virtually a different product! the aim is still the same though. Making app development easy. In the last couple of years we've got a lot of traction with large enterprise clients who like the balance of nocode ease of use for business lines with Javascript based extensibility which enables IT to focus on the most important features. Our feature set is currently enterprise focussed but we've got some upcoming feature releases to do with layout flexibility and logic workflows that will hopefully open up the platform to a much wider user base!
Aaron O'Leary
@ben_wynne_simmons Cool! Nice to see it's still going strong! Do you have a list of notable feature updates since you last launched?
Ben WS
@aaronoleary - it's been six years so the whole thing has been overhauled. I suspect most of the community here won't have heard of us before given our enterprise focus. I can give you a key feature list - but it might be easier for people just to go to our website (https://fliplet.com) and sign up with a free account.
