Flash is a FREE speed reading app that allows you to read large texts fast by flashing words one by one. You can read up to 1000 words / min using this technique.
Is there a chrome extension for example to 1-click read a medium article (which is opened and in the active tab), which gives me an overlay (similar to normal reader extension) for speed reading? Or do I always need to manually copy the text?
Super great.
I just tested with some multi-para product reviews, more effective way to consume snappy information.
Would be nice if I could change the type weight like I can with the bg colour.
@aviaryan123 It treats spaces and line breaks the same way and change of paragraph always (at least in my Medium tests) resolves as multiple spaces, so it'll give you a slight pause between paragraphs.
@aviaryan123@rdev I just copy/pasted an article, and every for every blank line (which separate paragraphs), it's displaying "Flash - A Speed Reading App". It's quite jarring. If you can fix this, I'll use this regularly. Thanks.
@aviaryan123 Great idea to use for reading articles. I could easily follow along with 500 wpm and the format of words flashing keeps me focussed and I don't need to scan.
Hello, ProductHunt!
Flash is a FREE speed reading web app inspired by an iOS app Spdr.
I really loved the idea of Spdr, but I primarily read on my laptop, so I decided to create a web version.
The app allows you to speed read a lot of text by flashing (get it? 😅) words one by one rapidly. It supports virtually any rate and has a Dark mode and Light mode.
Let me know what you think 🙌🏻

@rdev I've experimented with these before ... I'd love to see a product that delivers this in a way that feels gamified or fun. Personally I never stuck to it and just went back to old fashioned reading.
I love this idea! I've wanted something simple to use for reading articles/books like this. I would a love a feature to import articles/pdfs/other documents too!
Edit: Also, a way to pause would be nice (Sometimes I need to blink)
This is nice, but a bit inconvenient to have to copy/paste what I want to read from one place to another. Maybe you could take a look at what this extension is doing and also try something similar: https://chrome.google.com/websto...
Also, I'm yet to find a tool like this that works well with pdfs, so that would be a good differentiator.
Congrats and keep shipping!
