This is a unique approach to teach finance to newbies. I like the way you've got everything setup perfectly. Congrats @chihee_kim on making to the Top 4 in PH
Milan
@chihee_kim @rajan_ramachandran Thank you! Interestingly, a lot of our users are relatively experienced folks (adults) who are discovering new concepts in personal finance. So not just for newbies.
Alex Papageorge
Love this. Youngsters need this early in life too
Chihee Kim
@alex_papageorge Cool thanks Alex. Couldn't agree more that youngsters need it! Our current offering is targeted to adults (Millennials) today given record levels of financial distress within that segment, but we hope to be able to have content specific for youngsters too.

Hey Hunters! I’m Chihee, one of the makers of Finny. The lack of basic personal finance education is causing more and more young adults to feel stressed, live paycheck-to-paycheck and rack up lots of debt. That’s because learning about personal finance today is hard, time-consuming, piecemeal and sporadic. It’s like ripping out all the pages of an organic chemistry textbook, throwing them in the air and telling people to go figure it out. That’s why at Finny, we’re creating a fun, personalized, and curriculum-based way to learn about personal finance. Think of us as Duolingo for personal finance education. Key features: 💥game-based to make learning about personal finance more engaging and fun 💥quiz-based & bite-sized to make learning sticky 💥personalized to your interests to make learning relevant for you 💥curriculum-based so you're building real skills as you learn 💥promotion-free experience so you’re not distracted by a credit card offer 💥community-focused so you’re getting support from others like you 💥free! Why? We want to make personal finance education easy and fun. Long term, we want to give everyone, regardless of their background, the opportunity to be financially literate and have access to financial resources at low-cost. Rewards for learning. This month we’re running a $1K savings giveaway challenge! As you learn on Finny and earn Dibs (our virtual currency), you can enter for a chance to win $1,000. The next drawing will be on November 30. Please check us out, follow us and share any feedback you have! We’re all ears. Please comment below and ask us anything. And if you think Finny's cool, we'd appreciate it if you could share it with other folks in your network who would benefit from it! Thanks for trying Finny out!
Akritrime
This is a product that I have been looking forward to for so long. Easily accessible and good quality content about personal finance is already rare and something that is presented in such an enjoyable format is just awesome. Looking forward to using it to level up my financial knowledge.
Milan
@akritrime Thank you so much for your feedback! While building the product, we were very focused on the quality of content and making sure it's bite-sized & digestible. And don't forget to personalize to your interests:-)
Vineet Prasad
Great product! I'm really enjoying going through Finny's gamified learning modules. Plus the discussion community is fantastic. I highly recommend checking out Finny if you want to grow or validate your financial knowledge.
Chihee Kim
@vineet_prasad Thank you Vineet! Building a discussion community is a complement to the game-based learning modules. Through it, we hope to build an inclusive, diverse and supportive community of personal finance learners.
Afsar Ali
Fabolous
Milan
@afsaral85995491 Thanks Afsar!
Jordan
Awesome idea and great execution! I wish I had this when I was in high school :)
Milan
@jordnfk Thank you, Jordan! "I wish I knew this when I was..." is the most frequent feedback we get.
KU Rehan
Something of my interest. It's gamified approach is like a cherry on the top. Will try it out.
Chihee Kim
@ku_rehan Thanks KU, let us know how you like it and if you have any suggestions.
Amariei Daniel
I tried the product, and I liked the learning approach and the fact that you're using gamification mechanisms. Are you planning to launch an app also for this product?
Chihee Kim
@amariei_daniel Thanks Amariei! Yes, we do plan to build an app in the near future. In the meantime though, it's mobile-friendly and works on all devices.
Mansoor
Good
William McColgan
Great stuff Chihee! Very accessible.
Chihee Kim
@william_mccolgan Thanks Willy!! We're just getting started, so it's great to hear. Any and all feedback welcome (good, bad or ugly).
William McColgan
@william_mccolgan @chihee_kim the only thing I can come up with, and this is really a stretch, is that I sent it on to my teen nephew to whom I think it would be valuable, and some of the references are currently quite US specific. When you take over the world with this you may want to localize for different credit regimes? I think it's a wonderful concept, and incredibly well executed.
Chihee Kim
@william_mccolgan @chihee_kim Currently, the content is US specific because certain topics in personal finance like tax, credit scores, debt mgmt have really important US specific rules/regs that folks in the US need to know. Having said that, what's been interesting is that some of our earliest users also come from other markets like Germany, UK who find the educational content mostly relevant. But, we'll definitely at some future point localize to specific markets across all the topics!
Robert Thelen
This is awesome. Very much needed!
Milan
@robert_thelen thank you Robert!
Mart Vainu
Hi! Such a cool product! I'd love it to be an app. Do you make money with affiliations or will the app become subscription based at some point?
Chihee Kim
@mart_vainu Great you like it! Did you like the game-based learning aspect or the discussions? Not an app yet, but stay tuned! We make revenue in a few different ways now (affiliate being one of them). The game-based learning is free and will stay free.
Manish Jain
Super cool! As a big personal finance fan, I'm always looking for ways to improve my knowledge and help others do the same.
Milan
@manujny Thank you, Manish! We hope Finny will make it a lot easier for people to learn personal finance.
