@jonbstrong Final is a collaboration tool for video and audio files whereas Dropbox would come under a file sharing service. The advantage of final is that you get feedback on your video right in one place
@bobbyisac Dropbox offers exactly the same collaboration feature though (check the link I mentioned) in addition to their file sharing capabilities. So once again, what’s the advantage of using final over Dropbox?
@jonbstrong hey, I checked out the link you shared. Right now, Dropbox doesn't allow you to track changes and resolve them. Also, we'll be adding more features and differentiation in the coming versions
Awesome! I've had painpoints with this previously while engaging freelance video editors on fiverr. This would make commenting much easier.

Really cool - any chance there's a browser plugin on the map so there's no need to upload files if they're already somewhere else (youtube, podcast platform, Dropbox, etc.)?
@shilohjohnson The use case for YouTube or a podcast platform is less relevant because one wouldn't upload an audio or video file onto these platforms without finalizing the edit based on the feedback.
While one would prefer using Dropbox because it already provides storage, final also let's you own the storage of these files that you could share with whomsoever you choose to share it with. Infact, features like folder management and email-based sharing will make final a preferred choice over any storage-only platform because of all the other advantages it would give you.

You can upload a file and share a link with anyone you wish to receive feedback from. Feedback comments are marked with a time stamp making it super easy to navigate to the frame and understand exactly what the other person meant. You can also mark comments as resolved once you act on the feedback.
final will be useful for anyone working with audio or video files like freelance videographers, podcast editors, video agencies, marketing teams or anyone wanting to receive feedback on their video. Your final link can replace a bunch of tools including Google Docs, emails, WhatsApp messages and even calls.

Time based feedback is definitely super helpful for audio & video producers to get from "Version 0.1" to "Final Version" faster.
We experienced the need for timestamped feedback multiple times in the past and decided to build a very similar product a couple of weeks ago over at https://wandler.fm (invite only for now).

Nice 👍. Small suggestion, while sharing a video, it would be nice if the other person can view the video even if he/she is not logged in and not make the person signup.

I've seen quite a few platforms that offer similar services. Although this does look promising, what exactly do you offer that distinguishes you from them? Also, where does the inspiration for the product come from? Was this need based or inspired by a competing product?
@gokulg_r The inspiration was our own team members at guch (https://guch.me) struggling with feedback on video. In terms of differentiation, we made the UI very easy to navigate even by less tech savvy audience and we focus on smaller production houses and freelancers

It was less than a year ago that I was dreaming of having a product I built launch on ProductHunt. Absolutely thrilled that this day came so soon!
Two features that were especially fun and challenging to work on for me were the timestamps and the dark and light themes.

Quick question though: Are there any privacy restrictions that protect you from faulty or corrupted files? Say, someone adds you to the file without your permission, what do you do then? Is there any way we can reject accepting access to the file?
@guch @gopu_pillai right now we have a link based sharing where if someone shares a link with you, you can choose to open it or not and regardless, you won't be added to a 'project' per se. later when we have email based sharing, we'll make sure to address privacy concerns there.
The pain is real when you're getting a video made and it needs collaboration. In today's time with distributed teams everywhere, the need for something like this is so evident.
Now, I can't imagine myself commenting on a script in word or excel.

Timestamp based feedback would be so much helpful for creators and producers alike. It'll streamline the whole feedback process resulting in reduced production time & avoidance of frustrating communication.
