Facebook could almost support its own "Facebook Hunt" with the number of launches they've made lately. More details in their announcement.

@rrhoover Whats the line between a new product or a new feature?
Ryan Hoover
@angeladopter ultimately a new update should be significant enough and generally if it's from a high-profile product -- in this case, something millions of people use -- more people want to know about it and discuss than something that's lesser known. Of course, this is all subjective and we're working on ways to empower the community to make that decision collectively; however, we cannot have Product Hunt turn into "Feature Hunt" where every "dot release" is on the homepage.

@rrhoover Thanks, thats more clear. Last weekend was less interesting when every other product submitted an apple watch version of their product.

Is Messenger the best run team in Facebook? The pace and the sheer amount of features they are launching so quickly is mind boggling. Skype (and other competitors) must be really scared

@nikunj very little surpasses them turning messenger into a platform this year though. Such a big move to expand the reach of their already awesome product.

@nikunj The team building out their mobile developer solution stack has had a lot of major releases.

There is now very little stopping them from doing Periscope/Meerkat style one-to-many video broadcasts with this piece of the puzzle in place.
Lachlan Campbell
@jameskoole Definitely. Facebook would have a few ways of doing this: through regular Facebook, through Instagram, or through Slingshot. If they chose Slingshot, they would only do it to save a product that never took off — but with Periscope and Meerkat I think everyone would read the Techcrunch article and then laugh. Otherwise I’m guessing they’ll launch it through Instagram, because of the huge reach that targets young people way more than regular Facebook, as an “unbundled” app.

Wondering if a merge of WhatsApp and Messenger is ever going to happen
