@angeladopter ultimately a new update should be significant enough and generally if it's from a high-profile product -- in this case, something millions of people use -- more people want to know about it and discuss than something that's lesser known. Of course, this is all subjective and we're working on ways to empower the community to make that decision collectively; however, we cannot have Product Hunt turn into "Feature Hunt" where every "dot release" is on the homepage.
Is Messenger the best run team in Facebook? The pace and the sheer amount of features they are launching so quickly is mind boggling. Skype (and other competitors) must be really scared
@nikunj very little surpasses them turning messenger into a platform this year though. Such a big move to expand the reach of their already awesome product.
@jameskoole Definitely. Facebook would have a few ways of doing this: through regular Facebook, through Instagram, or through Slingshot. If they chose Slingshot, they would only do it to save a product that never took off — but with Periscope and Meerkat I think everyone would read the Techcrunch article and then laugh. Otherwise I’m guessing they’ll launch it through Instagram, because of the huge reach that targets young people way more than regular Facebook, as an “unbundled” app.
