Today, we are launching Facebook Campus, a college-only space designed to help students connect with fellow classmates over shared interests. Facebook Campus makes it easy to find and start conversations within your college community.
I did love Facebook during Uni - but looking back at some of those early status updates and albums - whew are they cringe worthy now. We were mostly using them as we might use a WhatsApp group now - in large part because we knew only a few people would see them (then).
Curious to see how the students today more well versed in the use of social media use the new Facebook 1.0. I hope for their sake they reign in the night out picture albums (like every night π) and "is still in the library at 1am" status updates.
@ejsnowdon The night out and 1am library pics are still very much on FB, but seeing them increasingly being shared on Snapchat or private Instagrams.
For better or worse π
Facebook, Facebook Workplace, Facebook Dating, Facebook Campus, Facebook Marketplace, Facebook Groups, just what comes to mind... Facebook feels bloated, very similar experience with Instagram. I don't think adding more features, bells and whistles and product offerings to the kitchen sink of social apps is their problem. They need to fix the trust issues associated with the brand itself. Does today's early 20's College student even use Facebook? Hopefully Facebook can regain the public trust and turn things around, I feel like they've been self-destructive.
Facebook is old, it's hard for him to get more young users. It's not the facebook' s problem. It's all the brand's problem. How to satisfy the first generation users and make the new users like it too.
Didnt they kind of already do this? I remember I had to use my school email to join facebook groups within my university. Nobody used it. It didnt work.
Movie name: Facebook.origins
Synopsis: After almost 14 something years of sucking the blood of the world's privacy, making people succumb to it's unlimited "features" and swallowing hundreds of businesses, our protagonistic antagonist turns to what was left in our education system. Originally what it was built for, our villainous hero pivoted to open its doors for the whole world, EXCEPT the students and education system but after taking over the world they are now ready to turn the education system into their own "new market". Will it be successful or is there going to be any resistance? We'll find out.
Is this suitable for students from any college all over the world? It seems to be quite interesting and useful for students. I'm pretty shy, and I will go to Miami to study for esl certification. I don't know anyone who goes to ASA College to interact. So I go to this college without knowing anyone, and I worry that I will not find friends with whom I can spend my free time. I hope that Facebook Campus will help me find friends from this college, maybe even the same specialization. Excited to see the results :) I hope it will be alright.
