@johnny_makes Excited to give this a spin. Quick question, being a Mac / iOS user, it would be great to have a Fabric share extension. Is this in the works?
@scottwwilliams ah! – for Safari you mean? because it's in the plans (hopefully won't be too painful to do)
@johnny_makes Safari would be good but was thinking for iOS in general. E.g. from the Product Hunt app, using iOS share function, I shared the Fabric app PH profile to a dew friends via text and saved it to Workona and Evernote. For me, personally, being able to share content from various apps is super useful.
@scottwwilliams I see! that would be great, and something we'd definitely want in there in our mobile version (quick, native sharing)
Congrats on the launch, Johnny! Landing page is looking amazing. One thing that could be clear is, what is the app technically, a mac OS app? or a browser extension?

@gvrizzo @johnny_makes Interesting. How does it work as a chrome extension vs a desktop app? Is it the exact same?
@gvrizzo @between_team it's slightly different in each! – e.g. the desktop app lets you make a note from anywhere on your computer, the browser extension lets you capture any web content you want, and shows your notes overlaid on the websites that they are about.
Fabric looks fresh and interesting. Reminds me a lot of MyMind by @vanschneider How are you different?
@vanschneider @niklausgerber take it for a spin! we're a collaboration app, targeted at teams, with nested folders haha, so almost opposites... except for a shared fondness for search.
Hey I just tried to sign up with Google but the button wouldn't react - also I've used a lot of collaboration and productivity apps, and the very first question that popped in my head about this is how does it compare to Notion?

Congrats on the launch of Fabric on Product Hunt, @johnny_makes! I think the idea of a unified productivity and collaboration layer is super cool, and Fabric seems like a promising solution.
Can't wait to test it. It looks pretty promising, and as a heavy note-taker when I browse, it could be super helpful for me.

One thing: You are launching on PH however the app is still in private access. That leaves no room for us to experience and comment as we are not simply able to see what the app does and how it works. Are you launching just to get the idea validated? We can comment accordingly
Looks super exciting, and I love the logo! I've wondered about a really collaborative drive for a while, what it would look like. Is the search semantic, using embeddings?

Congrats on the Launchpad Johnny! What has been the most popular use case for Fabric? Replacing bookmarks in browsers? Collections of images onto Pinterest-style boards?

@dan__cleary thanks Dan! we see quite a lot of usage geared towards research, discovery and inspiration gathering tasks (solo and shared), as well as some using it as a kind of external memory bank ("second brain")

I’m worrying about data privacy, if I’ll use it as a second brain it must be secure. Have you done some work on that?

files at rest are encrypted using 256-bit Advanced Encryption Standard (AES).
Fabric uses Secure Sockets Layer (SSL)/Transport Layer Security (TLS) to protect data in transit between Fabric apps and our servers

This looks amazing! Just signed up and installed the Chrome extension. Can't wait to start using it! Seems to be a bug in trying to sign-in to the desktop app. But all in all, love the UI and the onboarding experience so far!

@eonpilot good question! it's free for now, then will introduce a generous free storage tier, with unlimited storage for a small fixed monthly fee
@johnny_makes Free is awesome but it's always good to let users understand how you will make money. Or else it can become a blocker to adoption.
@eonpilot that's true and fair – though anyone joining before a price point should always be on a grandfathered plan I think, so that there's never any surprises and it's a kind of "thanks" back to the early users (special treatment) :)
