@sam_hainsworth Ellipse doesn't have a keyhole that can be exploited, it's mechanically extremely robust, and you'd have to overcome bank-level encryption to get it unlocked.
Digging into my saved emails:

Needless to say they are way way late in shipping. (In fact, as of today I still have not received any information about shipping my order.)
And to the poster above, yes, this is the same company. They changed names, perhaps to avoid being tainted with the innumerable delays that they ran into under the name SkyLock
@stephen_thomas We didn't want to change our name, had the trademark in the US, but were forced by Skynews in Europe. We relented. We understand we are late, but we are shipping 500 units on Monday. Already 100 units were shipped out 2 weeks ago.
@eonpilot The solar panel is an enabling feature of our lock. With 2 days of sunlight, it's able to charge the lock for 6 months of usage. Unfortunately though, isn't designed to charge your ebike. Theoretically speaking though, with 10 locks wired properly, you'd be able to recharge an ebike in about 20 hours.
Hello hunters. Ellipse is a wireless enabled bike lock and smartphone application that change the way people interact with their bicycles. With keyless access, and solar-charged battery technology, Ellipse increases personal safety and security better than any bike lock in the world.
@alina_karnaukh There's an accelerometer in the lock and it streams data to the phone with a range of up to 800ft. There is an ML algorithm on the phone which will analyze the accelerometer data and will throw an alert if there is a theft event.
Saw that a while back I think under the name of SkyLock or it's a competitor but the price is NOT justified way too expensive...
IF it had a guarantee attached to it - like we will send you a new one if your bike is stolen while using Ellipse - maybe... [I read your warranty it mentions nothing around that, unless I missed something]
The bike lock industry seems to have built a theft rating but you don't mention where you measure up against that... but at $ 199 each time you lose one or it gets damaged really ouch...
@exlemor Skylock was our old brand, but we had to change due to a trademark dispute. Ellipse offers added value in theft prevention, very high product quality (compared to analog locks), and lowers the cost of ownership by avoiding replacement cost due to theft. Other brands offer theft guarantees, but it's nearly impossible to have those claims processed. We are working with the insurance industry to offer a reduced bike insurance rate to our users.
@jack_al_kahwati don't want to argue but I have used a Kryptonite [highest end] and I had a claim and they processed it in reasonable time, no hassles.
But you don't make it clear in your offer / video / website WHAT makes Ellipse so strong / unbeatable - sure you talk about strong alloy but that's for the U part, the bottom part where the solar cell and brains are seem quite weak in comparison...
Not that I would want to buy one to test but I suspect I could take cut that rather easily right through the solar cell area...
You have no videos showing how strong it truly is again cutters, torch etc.. and at $ 199 honestly if it TRULY is that great, you should. [NOT saying it isn't amazing just saying at that price we need to see some proof until enough of them are out there that people start YouTubing and even so still would be good from an PR/Marketing standpoint if you should showed that]
And a coupon code with some savings once in a while wouldn't hurt anything either ;) ;)
P.S.: Don't get me wrong, I'd love to be buying my last bike lock and I love that you are trying to lower insurance rates [but to be fair I don't know a single person with insurance on their bikes]...
