Craft rough cuts in seconds. Eddie is your co-pilot that edits interview footage with text prompts. Iterate with Eddie: reverse the topic order, ask for a stronger hook, make this punchier. Then export to MP4 or polish in Adobe, DaVinci Resolve, & FCP.

Hey PH fam šŸ‘‹ It' show time. Today, I'm super super excited to bring Eddie AI to the global tech & startup community šŸŽ¬āœØ As EVERY video editor knows, wrangling hundreds of minutes of footage across various files to piece together a compelling story can be extremely time-consuming and tedious. Enter Eddie AIā€”your new AI-powered assistant editor thatā€™s here to help streamline your workflow and make the editing process 100x more enjoyable. And magical. Imagine having access to the best practices and tactics of the world's smartest video editing professionals. Like Stanley Kubrick or James Cameron in your pocket. That's what Eddie AI can do for you. Eddie is a co-pilot that understands and edits your interview footage, in seconds, with text prompts. Want stronger hooks? No problem! Want your edits to be punchier? Easy peasy. Not happy and want to iterate more? Grab a chair. Eddie's got you! You can even export the final file as MP4 or polish it in Adobe, DaVinci Resolve, & FCP I've had my share of grey hair because of time spent trying to get the perfect edit whether it is for my video podcast or my Youtube channel. So when I had the chance to try Eddie, I was hooked from the start. Eddie can generate rough cuts in minutes, find key soundbites, and organize them by topicsā€”all through a simple, conversational interface. You just tell Eddie what you want, and he gets to work! Key features: - > Generate lightning fast rough cuts (that would take hours otherwise) - -> Interact in a simple conversational UI like you'd talk to a person - -> Find key topics and specific soundbites from interviews within seconds - -> Export to DaVinci Resolve, Adobe Premiere, Final Cut Pro, or MP4 - -> Multiple outputs for social media and client feedback, all in record time In summary: I love how Eddie takes the guesswork out of editing and helps you get to the creative part faster. Plus, his ability to iterate and fine-tune edits makes it a game-changer for anyone who edits under tight deadlines or client pressure. Built by @shamirallibhai who's a world-class founder passionate about storytelling and the power of video šŸŽ„šŸš€ Also, a big shoutout to the Eddie AI team who've worked so far and are all present here keen to hear from you Check it out and feel free to drop any questions, suggestions or comments below šŸ‘‡ PS: Do you love surprises? There's a fun easter egg built into Eddie's instructions just for today's PH launch. Upload any video and ask Eddie to "RELEASE THE KITTENS". See what happens ;)

@shamirallibhai @thisiskp_ Congratulations on launching!. How well does it handle complex edits, like cutting long interviews into multiple short clips for social media?
Shamir Allibhai
@thisiskp_ @johnsy Hi -- it works well for this use case! :) Do you often record long interviews?
Johnsy George
@thisiskp_ @shamirallibhai Not that often, but out of curiosity wanted to understand if the corner cases are covered before I jump in.
Simona O'Neill
Oh I like this :-) Just tested it. Super easy and quick to use. Looks promissing :-) Especially that it's totally free at the moment. Congrats and best of luck with the future developments !
Robbie Janney
@simona_o_neill3 Thanks for the love Simona! We like it too :) Excited to hear your feedback!

ā€œEverybody asks why I started at the end and worked back to the beginning, the reason is simple, I couldnā€™t understand the beginning until I had reached the end.ā€ ā€“ Alison Lohman Eddie AI: Your Video Storytelling Partner @thisiskp_ thanks for the hunt ^_^ And a shout out to @rrhoover, PH was part of my school of life edu when I moved to SV a decade ago. _oOo_ Hey Product Hunt! Iā€™m super excited to introduce to you - Eddie AI. Born from a Storyteller's Struggle Picture this: A dimly-lit editing bay, dozens of hours of footage, and a looming deadline. That was me, a video storyteller facing an all too common production nightmare. Fueled by coffee and urgency, I pulled all-nighters to weave a narrative from a sea of content. That struggle birthed an idea: what if there was a better way to do this? What would this look like 10 years from now? I wondered if AI's magic could be extended to video editing? Fast forward to today. Meet Eddie AI, the storytelling partner for those creating videosā€¦producers, directors and marketers. The world of story building blocks, not a sea of buttons Eddie is the AI video editor that understands narrative, crafts compelling stories, and collaborates with video storytellers. It's here to transform how we bring stories to life by allowing you to focus on the building blocks of story: themes, topics, and soundbites. How does it do this? You upload your interview footage and give Eddie a prompt. Eddie, identify the key topics in this footage Can you cut me a video for YouTube about these topics And then you visualize the edit inline. Within seconds. Itā€™s not the end, itā€™s the beginning: iterate with Eddie Whatā€™s cool is Eddie understands subjective commands plus you can iterate on stories with Eddie: Make this video punchier Strengthen the hook And when youā€™re happy with the edit, you can always go back to your traditional video editing applications to polish and add graphics. Or export from Eddie to landscape and vertical mp4 with burned in captions. Weā€™re just getting started in rethinking how video storytelling can be better. Thank you so much for checking out Eddie AI. Really keen to hear about your first impressions, feedback or any questions today.
Ash
Hey @shamirallibhai, congrats on the launch. My question for you would be does Eddie work only based on the transcript/audio in the clip or can it also distinguish movement/actions while making fitness or workout videos for example? ie would it know to cut around the raw footage of the set up of an exercise and allow an instructor to only show the working part of it? Cheers!
Shamir Allibhai
@ashamplifies thanks Ash! Today it is primarily editing by voice/transcript but weā€™re working on including visuals into edit decisions :)
KP
@shamirallibhai @ashamplifies thx for checking this out. I know you love photography and videos.. hope you play around and share some cool cuts w Eddie
Shamir Allibhai
@mrgregzen bro!! toooooo long. thank you so much. and yes, i'll dm rn.
Ash
@shamirallibhai @thisiskp_ we actually have some interviews and conference clips that would be perfect to test this with so we'll definitely be trying this out. Appreciate the hidden release the kittens feature! šŸ˜¹

Artyom Zhuravlev
wow, it's blowing my mind what you've built! You can consider yourself part of the AI revolution in video processing
KP
@artyom_zhuravlev thank you! whats your fav feature?
Robbie Janney
@artyom_zhuravlev We're stoked to be a part of it!! Thanks for the support!
Harald Frank
Congrats to your launch. Eddie AI sounds like a huge time-saver.
Robbie Janney
@haribelafonte07 Thanks for the support, Harald!! šŸŽ‰
Jonny Miles
Congrats on the launch! In the example video, it looked like it could export portrait video clips for socials from a landscape import video, but in my testing I've only been able to get it to export landscape clips. Am I missing something or is the intention to just export clips I can then edit in a NLE?
Robbie Janney
@jonnymiles Hey Jonny! Great question, you can export vertical by pressing the export button and selecting "Vertical (mp4)". You can also export your NLE if you want to customize further!
gokulmadan
This is awesome. I have no experience with video editing and recently spent hours trying to piece together a video for an accelerator program Iā€™m applying to. I wish I had Eddie to help me. Definitely going to give Eddie a shout now.
KP
@gokul_madan thank you. Def try the code ā€œRELEASE THE KITTENSā€ and see what happens ;)
Robbie Janney
@gokul_madan Excited for you to try it out! Eddie's always ready for a shout šŸŽ‰šŸŽ¬
Jaxon Smith
The multiple output options for social media and client feedback are incredible. BTW congrats on launch!!
Robbie Janney
@jaxon_smith3 Thanks so much Jaxon!! Yeah, pretty awesome to have a quick output to social, right? And sending a link to a client for feedback in one click? Insane. Appreciate your support!
KP
@jaxon_smith3 thank you man
Mike Ray
Love the idea but hate that you require visitors to create an account before finding anything about the service.
Cedric Jude Hawthorne
Oh wow, this is actually super useful! Just one thing I'm curious about - can Eddie work with group projects where multiple editors are collaborating? And does it support cloud storage? Anyway, really love what you've done here. Good luck with the launch!
Robbie Janney
@cedricjudehawthorne Hey Cedric! Member of the Eddie crew here and fellow video editor. We do support Drive/Dropbox if that's what you use for cloud storage. Collaboration tools are on the horizon, but you can actually share a project with a friend, and they can continue using that same project in their own dashboard. Pretty cool for quick iteration between collaborators. Just click the share link in the right corner and send away!
Lee Launches
Discovered via KP . Signed up and was able to edit a specific clip from one of the demos in seconds. Impressed! Congrats on the Launch!
Robbie Janney
@leelaunches Thanks Lee!!
Evan Paul
Eddie sounds like a game-changer for editingā€”just type in what you need, and bam, youā€™ve got a rough cut ready. šŸ˜Ž Wondering though, as you built Eddie to respond to text prompts, did you discover any quirky or unexpected ways people were using it to streamline their edits? Congratulation on the launch !!
Shamir Allibhai
@evan_paul thank you so much!! šŸ’Ŗ the biggest surprise to me was how novel it was for people to iterate with Eddie. People are used to input ā€”> output. The end. But Eddie is more like a human collaborator where you can push and pull, change and try. Very natural for creative work. Once users realized the edit was not the end and they could literally ask Eddie to remove the last sentence or pick up the pacing, it was like whooah and their experience/satisfaction increased a lot! šŸ¤Æ
Robbie Janney
Hey Everyone! Robbie here - Community and Content manager at Eddie AI, and 10 year video content creation vet. I've been a video editor and producer for the better part of 10 years now. I've made commercials for fortune 500 companies, docs for indie houses, and videos for local hardware stores - and everything in between throughout the years. Working as a video professional (especially when running a one-man-band production) can be a struggle. When you're worrying about what lens kit to bring to your next gig, the last thing you want is an email from another client asking, "where's my edit?" Staring down the barrel of hours of raw content can be daunting, and it's sometimes hard to start the ignition when the workload seems so heavy. I've been searching for something like Eddie my entire career, and it's so, so amazing to be on the team that's bringing that vision to life. I was a writer and content producer for PremiumBeat/Shutterstock Tutorials back in the day, so i've covered my fair share of new software come across the scene - and let me tell you, Eddie is unlike anything i've come across in my career. The video that you see up top? That rough cut was done with Eddie. The full take was uploaded to Eddie, and it helped me form the framework for the story I wanted to tell. Then, I exported it to Premiere to give it the polish treatment and the After Effects makeover. Eddie saved me at least 5 hours of work. Whether you're an archival editor looking for a way to parse through large amounts of content, a doc filmmaker looking to start building the framework of your story, or a run-and-gun production house that wants a way to speed up client commentary and collaboration - Eddie is a perfect fit for you. Parsing through hours of raw footage is now as simple as asking a question. If you've got any specific questions about video workflows, i'd be happy to show you how Eddie can fit seamlessly into your production flow! Just like Eddie, my favorite thing to do is help people. So don't be a stranger šŸ™‚ Thank you all for your support during this launch. It's just the beginning!
Logan Cramer
Grats guys Iā€™ve been scouring the internet for an AI that does this: I film or livestream 2 hours. ā€œPlease make this 2 hour video into as many 8-10 minute clips that make sense as you canā€ Iā€™m wanting to make like 10 long form videos that make sense as stand alone videos from a long live. Can Eddie do that well?
Robbie Janney
@logan_cramer Hey Logan! Eddie can do exactly that, as long as the video is dialogue-based (which I'm assuming so since it's a livestream). You can ask Eddie that exact prompt, and then iterate with it to get the output you are desiring.
Saba Karim
This looks insane. Pumped to give it a shot.
KP
@sabakarim thx Saba!
Robbie Janney
@sabakarim We think so too. Much appreciated Saba šŸŽ‰
Shamir Allibhai
@sabakarim you da best
Otman Alami
does it work with arabic videos?
Robbie Janney
@otman_alami We're currently English only at the moment, but we have plans on the horizon for multi-language support!
Benjamin John
@shamirallibhai This is an amazing product. How should we use this with Descript?
Akhil Kumar Alampally
This looks pro, using, helps me to cut through my long form videos without hiring an editor or doing it myself. I just have to review and add sound design. Voila šŸ¤  Kudos to the team šŸ„³
Robbie Janney
@akhil_alampally Thanks for the love!! It really can be that easy. Crazy, right?
Meghan Henry
It has transformed my approach to project management. What features have you found most helpful in streamlining your own workflow?
Robbie Janney
@meghan_henry Eddie is incredible for finding the the story out of large amounts of content. Lots of different features for different workflows!
