Nice idea. We're big fans of UserTesting but it doesn't incorporate video feedback (yet?). While this is often unnecessary, I can see this being useful for certain apps/services and walkthroughs.

@rrhoover When do you think something like Sprint would be necessary vs unnecessary? How do you draw the line?
Ben Tossell
We've seen products like OpenTest and others try to succeed in this way with user recorded feedback. What makes Sprint different/better? What I'd like to see if an on-demand product that gets you feedback from product 'experts' - have considered making myself but no time.

@bentossell There's a few differences between Sprint and OpenTest, Usertesting, etc. First - Sprint focuses on mobile apps and prototypes, putting them in the hands of testers from the convenience of their own home. Second - Whereas other competitors are effectively guided usability studies, Sprint takes a different approach. For each project, we ask our community of scouts to rate the idea of a product before, then they go use the product, and rate it again. These ratings help frame the user's opinion of your product before you even get into the videos. We only record screen sessions for prototypes and websites, and our 2 videos are of a user's face, not their screen session, which helps to build empathy. Third - Many usability sessions will ask a user to spend 15 minutes going through guided tasks. First you have to find insights in the videos, write them down, edit the video down, and share with your team. Our video responses are 30 seconds long - short enough to share, and long enough for a user to provide coherent, targeted feedback. What do you consider a product expert to be?

Sprint enables your team to bring the voices of outside users into your team’s design process—seamlessly. You’ll get video feedback based on whether a mobile app or prototype lives up to user expectations—feedback that helps your team move forward. Sprint saves your team time and money in gathering and making use of feedback - and gets results in 24 hours

Thanks for the hunt, Eric! We built Sprint because we saw two major challenges in the research // feedback space. 1. Product owners often build products without testing with actual users. They eschew this process because it takes time and energy to recruit, manage, and pay participants for testing. 2. Once feedback comes back, it typically sits on the shelf. Lots of feedback gets lost in translation and is buried behind spreadsheets. Sprint solves these problems in two ways: 1. We manage the entire relationship with users, and use a before/after research framework to help you get better insights. Customers are able to screen for relevant participants, and ask 2 custom video questions. 2. The feedback is distilled into 30-second video clips -- short enough to share with your team without feeling the urge to edit a highlight reel, and jam-packed with relevant info so you'll never sit there waiting for insights. In addition to these two differentiators, we also record screen sessions when testing prototypes and websites. 25 users dish on Instagram Stories - https://sprint.dscout.com/s/smcs...
