Hey Product Hunters! I'm so excited to share the official launch of Dropbox Capture 🎉 Since the beta started a year ago, the Dropbox Capture has made tons of improvements based on feedback from thousands of customers. Some awesome new features include: • video trimming • transcribing • commenting • improved screenshot markup • the ability to track who's viewed videos • increased recorded video time length You can also attach hyperlinks to captures and organize them in collections to create a knowledge base of content, like onboarding resources or guides, that can be easily accessed and shared with teammates. If you're a Dropbox customer, Dropbox Capture is available now! Go check it out at https://www.dropbox.com/capture?...

this is incredible. I love Loom and Dropbox. But it's great to see more product in this space. and it makes sense to have such functionality integrated.
Youcef Es-skouri
@podviaznikov Exactly, you got the point. Thank you!

Thanks for the hunt, @thinker. Hey Product Hunt! Youcef here, I'm the Head of Product for Dropbox Capture, and I'm super excited to be back here today. For those who are not familiar with Capture, we launched it in beta last year. It helps alleviate communication hurdles that come with remote work (e.g., countless hours of video meetings, constant chat messages, and lengthy emails) and makes it easier for people across time zones to communicate asynchronously with engaging video messages. Starting today, Capture is out of beta and available across all Dropbox plans. With Professional, Standard, Advanced, and Enterprise plans, you can record videos in 4K up to your storage limit and edit videos of any length. With Basic, Plus, and Family plans, you get up to two hours of recording time at 1080p and editing for videos under five minutes. We are also making Capture available in English, German, Spanish, French, Japanese, and Portuguese, with additional languages coming soon. Since we first announced Capture, we have received feedback from thousands of customers and made the app even better. We've also added many new features such as video trimming, transcribing, commenting, improved screenshot markup, the ability to track who's viewed videos, and lifted the 5-minute limit we used to have on recordings. You can also attach hyperlinks to captures and organize them in collections to create a knowledge base of content, like onboarding resources or guides, that can be easily accessed and shared with teammates. You will also notice that Capture looks and feels a bit different from other apps when using it. When talking to Dropbox customers, something that comes up consistently is how much they love how the Dropbox folder on their desktop computers works. Many call it the "magic folder" and love how "it just works". So we've tried to recreate that feeling of "it just works" by making deliberate design and user experience choices on Capture: Just the right amount of features and customization, optimized for speed, and never gets in the way. I will be around on Product Hunt, answering any questions from the community in the comments section below. I can't wait to hear your feedback and see what you create with Capture. Thank you! Youcef, on behalf of the Dropbox Capture team

Youcef Es-skouri
@talraviv HI Tal and thank you for your support!

Capture is great for screenshots, but the biggest thing for me has been automatic, time coded transcripts for video/screencasts. Huge efficiency gain for async work for my team. Congratulation on the launch @youcefhq!
Youcef Es-skouri
@heliostatic Thank you very much Ben!

Looks like a solid tool, but as someone who already uses CleanShot X, I think there’s not much reason to switch to Dropbox Capture. One potential reason could be that Capture supports comments, but I imagine people need a Dropbox account to comment, right? (If not you should highlight that on the website because it’d be a super helpful feature!) As for transcripts, if I needed them often, I’d probably rather stick with Descript’s free recorder which also lets you remove filler words and edit your video by editing the text before you share it (it has comments too!) I’m always happy to see more competition for apps I love to use (it can only lead to improvements for everyone). All I’m saying is that Dropbox might need to up its game to really compete.

I can concur that Dropbox Capture has been great! Easy to use. Love it! Makes getting an idea across super easy without having to schedule another meeting. I really do feel like I'm multiplying my time

I was part of the internal release and use Capture every day. It replaced Monosnap (which was great, as well) and I haven't looked back. Simple and easy to use with instant alerts when your shares are viewed.
Youcef Es-skouri
@taft_love2 Thank you so much for the nice comment, glad we replaced the other app :)
Mike Zivin
I've been using Capture in Beta for a few months now. What I like about it is the simplicity. It just works! I can capture images, screen records, and even annotate my videos effortlessly.
Youcef Es-skouri
@mike_zivin Thanks Mike for your support!
