Hi, I'm Gustav, the creator of DockFix! 👋🏼 After weeks of hard work, I’m thrilled to announce the release of a major DockFix update packed with tons of exciting new features to redefine your macOS experience! This is one of the biggest updates we’ve ever released, and I couldn’t be more excited to share it with you, so I really hope you like it! 🎉 Here's what's new: 1. Reserve Screen Space: Many of you have been asking for a setting to prevent apps from overlapping the dock. Now, we have finally introduced this and once enabled, all apps are resized and positioned automatically to never overlap the dock! 2. Notification Badges: You've also been asking for notification badges since the release of the very first version of DockFix and I'm excited to announce that this version has that too! 3. Custom App Icons: We've also made a proper way to apply custom app icons to any apps on the system including the native ones you otherwise couldn't! 4. Website Shortcuts: Create a link to any website in the dock and have it show up like it's own app with an icon of your choice, but open the URL in your browser of choice. 5. Spacers: You can now also better organize your dock using spacers to separate apps. Another feature you've been waiting for! 6. Redesigned User Interface, Smoother Animations, Bug Fixes

Launching soon!
The default dock is so bad that I have it "disabled" (crippled the settings so its as small as possible and hidden). This product might be for me if it fixes the dock

@jogicodes That’s awesome to hear. I really hope this app is exactly what you’ve been looking for!

Congratulations on the launch! What was your main motivation for replacing the standard dock in the first place?
Gustav Lübker
@tymoxx Thanks! First creating the app several months back, it was meant as a tiny, super simple tool to just reveal some of Apple's hidden terminal settings like the animation speed and delay. Those simple things that you have always been able to do with the terminal, but hidden in the settings, so the first version of the app just revealed those things and the idea was to make it simpler for people to give them control over their dock without knowledge of the terminal. As people shortly after wanted more functionality, I decided to take on a different approach to dock customization and rather than just modifying the native dock, we'd instead replace it with a custom one and from this point on is when the app started growing in popularity and I continued releasing the next 7 versions of the app til the point at which we are now.

What about performance? How much ram does it use?
Gustav Lübker
@serdaraksoy DockFix really doesn't use that much ram, it is for the most part quite optimized. I have it running all the time in the background and haven't ever noticed any performance issues. DockFix should be quite optimized, all written natively in SwiftUI to be fast.

I didn't even realize how much I wanted a customizable dock until now. DockFix seems like the perfect balance between enhancing what's already there and offering something entirely new.
