As a company culture fanatic, I'm excited about this product. Weβve been using for peer recognition in Slack for the past two years at HubSpot. This launch comes with new features available to all (βs, company values support, broadcasting recognition to office displays, and more) and a new look and feel (previously Growbot...no longer to be confused with HubSpotβs GrowthBot ;).
Thanks for the post! I'm Veronica, the product manager for Disco. We've been so excited to share this launch with our existing customers who were with us from our Growbot days, and for all the new ones who are finding us for the very first time!
Happy to answer any questions from the PH audience! π
The main presenter in that video is so natural. It's almost like she's got years of on-camera experience! ;)
Well done. This looks like a great product!
I've been using Disco in its beta (aka Growbot) form for some time now and I'm surprised at how useful this handy Slack integration is. In my eyes, it alleviates three problems at once:
- Problem 1: in an already polite work culture where every conversation ends in "thanks", this tool allows us to say, "no, really, that was dope!"
- Problem 2: If I *am* particularly grateful for something, what's the right way to show my appreciation? Bear hugs? Awkward bro-five fistbump thing? An earnest heart-to-heart as we wait in line for the bathroom? No, those won't do. This provides a non-weird way to say "thanks, friend" in an appropriate, non-cringey forum. Winninggg.
- Problem 3: Let's be honest, you want to be recognized for good work. Most of your day-to-day wins aren't worth specifically bringing up in your quarterly/annual/whatever review. But on the other hand, you did some damn fine work! This allows people to call a spotlight to it in a way that's surprisingly fun and surprisingly not awkward (see problem 2).
If you're struggling with a good modern way to say thanks at work, give it a whirl.
