Very cool to see how Detour has evolved since it's launch over 3 years ago. They've expanded into a platform to enable more people to create audio tours and experiences. Very timely with the rise of audio and our inevitable Her-like future. 😉

@rrhoover I personally have been thinking that Detour is the most practical consumer facing AR product today. Been looking forward to them opening this up.

Looks awesome. I've got one question though -- can tour guides get paid for creating tours on the platform? The video mentions that a guide could create a tour, but do they distribute on their own, or is there an App Store model, where one could submit a tour and then get paid every time a tourist downloads it?

Quick question, Detour team - would anything prevent me from creating content in another language than English?
Andrew Mason
@theoblochet yes - our lack of support for languages other than English. :( But hopefully coming soon!!!
Kirill Zubovsky
@theoblochet @andrewmason can a shortcut to that be "SF MOMA (ENG)" vs "SF MOMA(RUS)" ...etc ? Instead of adding fancy language features, allow diff files for download. Boom, available as a feature right away :)

Detour is easily one of my favorite apps this summer. After having tried a couple of audio walks in Paris recently, I'm blown away by how much fun they are and how well they work. Actually thinking of creating an audio tour for Amsterdam soon!
Théo Blochet
@juanbuis Same thing. Detour walks in Paris have become a weekend activity for me. Very excited about the opportunity to be creating some.

@juanbuis @theoblochet Thanks for the support! Would love to help both of you successfully create a Detour and get it published on the Detour app for everyone to enjoy. I'm at alex@detour.com if you guys want to share any of your tour ideas and get some internal feedback and support :-)

Nice! Reminds me a lot of Recho http://recho.org/

Why are you charging a flat fee to developers so early in your growth? Seems like you would want to encourage developers, perhaps with a per session percentage. Until Detour gets a high volume of paid monthly sessions, Developers will be paying more than they receive.

Hi. Has Detour died?

This seems like a very interesting tool, I will definitely give it a try when traveling!

One of my many blockers, anti-tracking, etc apps gave me a warning that your site was quote "Your connection isn't private. Attackers might be trying to steal your information from platform.detour.com (for example, passwords, messages, or credit cards). NET::ERR_CERT_COMMON_NAME_INVALID Just thought you should know...
