Console is a free weekly email digest of the best tools and beta releases for developers. We keep track of everything - dev tools, devops, cloud, and APIs - so you don't have to.
@nimrodkramer Thanks, Nimrod! Glad you're enjoying it!
We have pretty strict selection criteria - https://console.dev/about/#selec... - and being conscious of how limited everyone's time is, we limit our reviews to around 600 characters in the email. Our podcast is never more than 15min. All this is about respecting developer time and only covering things we think experienced developers will check out.
Console started as a weekly newsletter but we're aiming to build it out to be the place for developers to find the best tools. This is why we've started a podcast, and there's more to come later this year!
Hello again Product Hunt!
I’m David, Co-founder of https://console.dev a free weekly developer tools newsletter we introduced on Product Hunt back in February - thanks to your support we now have 7,500+ subscribers!
Today, we’re excited to preview three new products that build on our mission to help developers discover the best new tools, and are the perfect complement to our weekly newsletter:
- Console DevTools - https://console.dev/tools/ - is a list of every tool we review for the newsletter, offering a comprehensive archive of the most interesting new developer tools. Each week we check hundreds of sources to pick out the most interesting tools and new releases.
- DevTools Podcast - https://podcast.console.dev - a weekly 15 minute discussion of the tools featured in each newsletter on the Console DevTools Podcast.
- Developer Interviews - https://console.dev/interviews/ - each week we speak with the people behind the tools we feature in the newsletter. You can now access all our discussions. Recent highlights include: CodeSee CEO, Shanea Leven, Hookdeck CEO, Alex Bouchard, KeyDB CEO, John Sully and Akita CEO, Jean Yang.
We’re excited to share the latest steps in our journey with everyone on Product Hunt and appreciate your support and feedback.
Happy to answer any questions!
PS. If you’ve seen or are working on something you think we should consider featuring, feel free to email me: david@console.dev
@idoshamun Thanks, Ido! We keep track of hundreds of sources! Lots of these are company blogs (thanks for RSS!) but we also browse forums like Hacker News, Reddit and Twitter where people are always talking about things they like. Sometimes these are top level posts but we often find interesting things through the comments as well.
We also subscribe to a lot of other newsletters, but our goal is not necessarily to include things that are "breaking news" or "trending". We like to try things out and have our own opinion for what we review. Sometimes this includes "new" releases or features, but equally it could be v5 of a tool released a decade ago that we think is worth everyone knowing about.
I regularly come across things that have been around for years but I've never heard about. I'm sure that's the same for a lot of our subscribers as well!
Resourceful list! Thanks for putting this together @davidmytton@max_jennings
I think our site 3D Bay would be a good fit to this collection. 3D Bay is an extensive collection of high-quality, royalty-free 3D images and we just released it as a Canva plugin as well!
I think it would be beneficial to your audience. Check us out.
@alperr Thanks for subscribing! The submit tool button is an email link so it should just open your mail client to send to hello@console.dev - is that not working for you?
@console@davidmytton No, it is not. But I am not sure about the reason. It may be a good idea to share your email address for submissions as well, though. Anyone having a problem with the button can send a direct email in that way. I think I will do that :)
