this was posted to PH 6 months ago: http://www.producthunt.com/posts... when it was in pre-launch stage. They're launching publicly today and it looks pretty cool.
@_jacksmith Minor detail here -- would you mind updating the post name to "Codetree" instead of "Code Tree"? Thanks! Or would someone at PH need to do it? @lukasfittl
@derrickreimer Yeah, I noticed that too - we currently have a bug that keeps me from doing this, should be resolved today/tomorrow, then I'll fix it. cc @ayrtonbe
@derrickreimer How long will it take to refresh or sync up from Github? Just made a bunch of changes re: our milestones in Git, but have yet to see them in CT
@shanndfox was just about to reply to your support ticket, sorry for the delay! At currently load, it could take a few hours since we have to poll the GitHub api for milestone changes. GitHub sends us notifications for most changes, but unfortunately milestone updates is not one of them.
Looks really great for teams that use GitHub Issues on multiple projects. I have to say though, for a team our size with the number of projects we have, coupled with the amount we pay for GitHub -- the pricing seems a bit high.
I don't mind paying for services. We pay for everything we use and donate to the things that don't ask for money. I just think the plans are a bit high.
@KrauseFx Hi Felix, the invite code gate will be coming down around 9am PST. That permissions level is required by GitHub for issue access (unfortunately).
@derrickreimer Thanks, I just got my invite. Just a note: Why not using a similar pricing like ZenHub: https://www.zenhub.io/pricing
I'm using GitHub only for my open source projects (currently 7), which are all free to use. There is no company behind it.
@KrauseFx Thanks for the question - I haven't ruled out an open source plan, but for now focused on reaching profitability first. Gotta keep the lights on :)
@derrickreimer@krausefx It will great to have a plan for open source projects. Other services like Codetree have a free plan for open source, so I think you need to consider it. ;)
Pricing seems unfair to me. I have a 4-people team right now, with 2 repo, and I'm paying $25/month for Github. I would pay $49/month for this.
I might be too cheap, too early stage or just not american: not sure!
@benjaminnetter Hi Benjamin! I always encourage folks to think about the value equation. Would spending $49 (probably less than hour or two of an engineer's salary) save you more than an hour or two on project management overhead each month? Pricing is hard, but value is always my guiding principle when figuring this stuff out.
Sorry about the intermittent errors, servers took a beating today. Partially thanks to the "Product Hunt" effect. Shall I say we got "product hunted"? :) Things should be pretty smooth sailing now.
@alokic That's an (unfortunate) result of GitHub's permissions model. In order to gain access to issue data, GitHub requires full repo access. However, Codetree does not access any source code and all credentials are encrypted on our servers.
