In 2014, we built a platform to help developers help each other. Codementor is an online marketplace that finds you a developer for live programming help & freelance jobs on-demand. In the past four years, we have grown to become a lively community of 300,000+ developers who connect through mentorship, community content, and freelancing opportunities. Today, we’re very excited to launch Codementor 2.0! We spent the last couple of months talking to users and designing new features, to come back with a whole new design that that improves the experience for both mentors and clients. What’s new in Codementor 2.0? - Mentor onboarding: We want to provide a fun experience to help new mentors prepare themselves. (P.S. We added several fun elements, bonus points if you get the reference! ;) ) - User onboarding: We’ve optimized the user onboarding process to make the experience as efficient and seamless as possible. - Mentor search tool: You’ll be able to find, compare, and evaluate developers more quickly. - Mentor application form: Applicants are able to showcase their skills and experience more accurately (with an easier process, as well!), so our team will be able to assess all mentor applications more accurately. To celebrate the launch, we’re giving Product Hunters an exclusive $15 voucher! Which means, combined with our already existing “first 15 minutes free” new user perk, you’ll be able to have up to a 30 minute free mentoring session (depending on the mentor’s rate). To claim your perk, just go here [www.codementor.io/?ref=producthunt] and sign up for an account. Don’t forget to check your inbox afterwards ;) Would love to hear any thoughts or feedback!

@weitingliu Even after repeated attempts I am not able to register as a developer. Would request you to kindly look into this personally

This looks great! Thanks for building it.

I started using CodeMentor thinking it would be something similar to PeoplePerHour or Upwork, but this actually works! It's quick from signup to first project, weekly payouts, and a good platform for direct communication and mentoring. I think I got my first student within 24 hours after starting to use the site and my first payment in a couple of days later.

There's some minor technical annoyances, and you need to manually make sure your students accept you starting a session (or you're mentoring for free) but other than that, I mostly have good things to say about Codementor.

Pros:

As a mentor, I get lots of possible tasks that are easy to accept and perform

Cons:

Some smaller technical issues

These guys rock!

Hi, if you are a codementor, are you considered also a developer?

I've been mentoring people on Codementor for more than a year now! Really enjoy the platform - helping, supporting and mentoring new devs is really fulfilling. Codementor was a game-changer for me - it allowed me to focus on things I enjoy while also sharing knowledge and being able to make a good revenue out of it.

It's unique because it helps in building lasting relationship between client and developer

Pros:

Quality clients

Quality developers

Cons:

Less long term clients

Codementor has gotten me through so many difficult challenges. I still think I have my first job as a software developer in significant part because I could still show progress with Codementor's help. I appreciate the code samples afterwards I can reference, and seeing the solutions unfold in real time collaboratively.

Pros:

Excellent developers and platform for learning how to solve tough problems

Cons:

There is an investment, but if used infrequently enough can still be profitable each month

I begun using Codementor, when I was looking for a little bit of side-income in my field. It is a very fulfilling way to do so, by teaching and mentoring other developers in how React works. I can totally recommend it.

Pros:

I can easily connect with a lot of mentees and companies through their tool and I am able to help them with their problems

Cons:

Minor technical difficulties

Codementor support team (of codementor.io) is very unethical and a scam. They scammed me of $3900 in February and March 2022. They deleted my account now. If you are a Programmer, please stay away from the unethical platform. You will end up wasting your time. There are much better alternatives. I worked with a client for a week (in 5 to 11 March 2022) for $1500 and delivered perfect work. After I submitted work, client liked it very much and asked me to develop another application and refused to set up a new job. He basically, wanted me to do it for free. He kept insisting for a day, then started threatening and suspended payment. Later, a “lady” from Codementor support stepped in and found that the client was a PhD student and the work was a part of his research. They claim they found this when they talked with the client. (How am I supposed to know this.) The Codementor team took the entire payment from the client and gave me nothing claiming it is against their policy to help in school work. [Why did they take it then???] Every transparent nature. I wonder if the lady get commission on doing such unethical tasks. They did not reply to my emails questioning their decision. Good for them, they took the entire payment and made up a violation out of no where. Questions Codementor will not answer as they are a scam: If we cannot work for students, why is it a violation to ask the client personal questions to identify if they are a student? Why did they take the entire money if this is a violation? Why they could not show me any proof that the work was a part of an assignment. I had pending payment of $2400 from other tasks on February and beginning of March 2022 which I could not cash out as they suspended me. Hence, they scammed me of $3900. This is just a harmless report of the incident that took place with me. The platform may work well with you if you earn in pennies. Just stay safe.
