CleanTimelime maker here.
I love twitter, I use it all the time! But as anyone who spends a lot of time on twitter would tell you, the official clients became really annoying lately.
We are not only seeing more ads that we can’t even block, we are also “forced” to see what people we follow like, or read their tweets again and again with the “in case you missed it” feature/bug (it depends on whom you ask).
After I built a small bot to keep my “likes” and bookmarks on twitter private (check out https://botmarker.com/), I wanted to make my timeline clean again, but I didn’t want to use another twitter client.
What I noticed is that twitter doesn’t add any ads or “distractions” to the lists, so creating a new [private] list and adding everyone I follow to it would solve the issue. This would work just fine for me, since I don’t follow more than 40 accounts, but if you want to do the same thing, and you follow a lot of people, adding all of them to a list manually will take forever. what’s even harder is keeping the list up to date as you follow/unfollow new people.
For this reason, I created this new tool that does just that. After you sign up, CleanTimeline will create a new and private list for you (called clean-timeline), then adds all the accounts you follow to it (up to 5000).
To use the application, visit http://cleantimeline.com/ and hit the sign up button.
Looks like a very effective method at reading the latest news from Twitter without being overwhelmed with ads/paid placements/etc. Glad you are using OAuth to authenticate accounts as well! Going to give this a try. :)
