Me and @suzywillow are big fans of Netflix Party, but that only supports Netflix (as you might assume).
Clever move with the subdomains, @edwardsansom. π
@rrhoover@suzywillow@edwardsansom Yeah, you kinda paint yourself into a corner with that "Netflix Party" moniker. ...&chill works and is expansive and fun. "Netflix Party" might also find itself the recipient of a cease & desist letter in the future from @reedhastings ' legal team. π±
@rrhoover i got the exact same feeling about turntable. @edwardsansom congrats on building a really cool product. are you thinking about incorporating any features that will help with the live problem -- i.e., the experience is only as good as having people on it? public rooms is a one good solution to address it (which you've implemented). thinking of others? Is there an opportunity for a follow graph either at the user level, or maybe the video topic level? I could totally see wanting to watch, say, a ted talk or a programming tutorial at the same time others were watching and to opine or ask others questions (even if i didn't already know the people).
@mightyalex Hey Alex - our swear word filter is a work in progress, it's picked up a few false positives. We'll be working to iron these out as we go along. Thanks :)
i dont like the fact that there are different viewing angles :( i wish it was possible to choose whichever angle you are more comfortable with, for me thats row 3 seat 1 btw :>
Wow. well done. this is top notch execution and the 3D is really awesome. I think that adding a functionality of searching Youtube videos within the product will improve the experience a lot!
@EdwardSansom - thumbs up!
@bentossell To an extent I agree with you, but so far AndChill's got a great community, especially on the Product Hunt room. You should come on and see :)
@dylanjnz@calum_webb so I went and chilled in the room. Great experience :)
Doesn't get crowded and messed up like other vaguely similar types of sites. nice job
@rrhoover@EdwardSansom I think there's a BIG KERNEL of coolness here. I was also a huge fan of both turntable.fm and Soundrop. Synchronous sharing of media content with a community is one piece of the puzzle. Content rights issues and monetization may prove more problematic.
Hi everyone!
Firstly, big thanks to @robjama for the hunt and @cpollo01 for the advice.
Weβve been working on &chill, it's a website where you can watch YouTube and Twitch live streams with people. We wrote a bit of a backstory here.
Weβve set up a room just for you Hunters; come watch some product videos over at producthunt.andchill.tv.
Or if you're up for a laugh, we got you - lol.andchill.tv. Need some inspiration? Check out - interesting.andchill.tv. Right now weβre working on automating these rooms so there are new videos every day.
Weβd love to hear what you think.
- Ed & Dylan
@edwardsansom@robjama@cpollo01 Any plans to let room creators decorate/customise their rooms and interact with other viewers 1-2-1 (IM)? What other stuff is coming soon?
@mattnavarra Hey Matt, yep totally. We worked with G2 Esports to create a room for the staff and fans to watch their team compete. Check out g2esports.andchill.tv. It was a one off concept but we got some really great feedback from it.
At the moment people can voice chat to each other if theyβre sitting in the same row and text chat to talk to anyone in the room. Expanding on this we think itβd be pretty cool to see what your friends are watching, so weβre looking to add some more social features for 1:1 interaction between people.
Weβre also looking into automating some of the content, as well as maybe opening up an API.
Thanks!
Loving this. Please, please allow us to use Soundcloud links (video could just be the album artwork). Using this to listen to music with friends. @edwardsansom
@tsunaze Hey, we do have some ideas around VR functionality, but currently we're just trying to gauge feedback on the cinema layout to see how much value people get out of it. Thanks for asking!
Really enjoyable, nice implementation and loads of potential. Definitely needs some user management controls though otherwise the chat just descends to the 'youTube comments' level pretty quickly.
@dani3lblackburn Hi Daniel, we've done a bunch of stuff to help improve the chat experience, but we're aware there's still room for improvement. More moderation controls for room admins/owners is something we are looking into. Cheers for the feedback!
