Hi folks! I’m one of the founders/CEO of Causal. A bit of context behind the launch: Before the market downturn, it was easy to ignore finance at Seed/Series A — funding rounds were huge, and the next raise was always around the corner. But not anymore — round sizes have come down, and the bar to raise a Series A/B has gone up. Runway matters again. As a result, we've seen a huge uptick in demand and usage from earlier-stage teams over the last few months. So we've been working on a new self-serve product designed specifically for Seed/Series A companies: Causal for Startups. Here's how it works: ⚡️ 1 min: Create an account and connect to your accounting + HR systems (e.g. QuickBooks/Xero + Gusto) 📈 2 mins: See a breakdown of your revenue, expenses, and burn over time, and drill down into the underlying transactions that make up each number 🖥️ 5 mins: Customise key assumptions to see an accurate view of your runway, and share interactive dashboards with your team and investors 🔀 10 mins: Explore multiple scenarios for different hiring and growth plans 📊 30–60 mins: Use our templates to build a detailed financial model for your company, with our best practices to guide you The truth is that you don't need to spend ages on finance at Seed/Series A. The key "jobs to be done" are: 1️⃣ Knowing your runway 2️⃣ Planning your growth realistically(!) 3️⃣ Reporting back to your team + investors We've built Causal for Startups as the quickest way to setup and put these 3 jobs on autopilot, freeing up your time to grow your business and find PMF. We’re 3 years into our journey with 100s of companies of all stages using the platform, so you can rest assured that your Causal setup will scale with you as your business and org grow in maturity from Series A to B, and up to pre-IPO and beyond. Sign up and use our 'model wizard' to get started — would love to hear what you think :) Taimur

lukas
@andreyv We're working on improving our CRM integrations (we released them as a beta last week) and Stripe is coming out soon, too! What integrations are you looking for?
Andrey Vinitsky
@lukaskoebis1 thank you @lukaskoebis1 can't wait to test CRMs and Stripe. Actually, Stripe is the one I'm looking for 😊 Which CRMs will you launch first?
lukas
@andreyv Salesforce, HubSpot, PipeDrive are ready to use. Give it a try :)

Congratulations @taimurabdaal Really excited to use your product. However, I do have a question. Are you using AI to group expenses on the go? For example, in my case, I am spending money on multiple micro SAAS which I don't need because they were doing similar jobs and I was wasting my money. I had to manually check each tool to figure out that pattern and remove them. Regards, Founder Feedbird
Taimur Abdaal
@new_user_120ce37e17 Thanks Salman! We group expenses together based on how you've set up your accounts in your accounting system. For example, your different micro-SaaS products will probably be classified as "Software expenses" in your accounting system, so we'll group them together there. If you see that your "Software expenses" was too high last month, then you can drill into the specific transactions within Causal and you'd be able to see that you could cancel a few of them :)

Great product, great founders. Causal is incredibly powerful for a number of reasons. We used it to create our financial model in our last funding round: it was super useful to be able to easily toggle our projected growth depending on the amount invested. This simply wasn't possible in Excel.
Taimur Abdaal
@assembledadam Thanks Adam! Great to have you as a user since the early days :)

Congratulations on the recent launch of Causal for Startups on Product Hunt, Taimur! 🎉 I'm really impressed with the user-friendly interface and the ability to connect to accounting and HR systems in just a minute. It's great to see a product that simplifies the finance process for early-stage companies. I'm curious to know more about the use cases for Causal and if there are any unique features that set it apart from other financial planning tools. Also, what makes Causal stand out from its competitors? Overall, Causal for Startups seems like a game-changer for founders who want to put their finance jobs on autopilot and focus on growing their business. Keep up the fantastic work! 🚀 @taimurabdaal
Taimur Abdaal
@paolo_degiglio Thanks Paolo! Causal is a very general tool that can be used for any kind of modelling/forecasting. We actually have sales, marketing, product, and engineering teams using Causal too, as well as non-profits and people using it for personal use :) The big difference between us and our competitors is around flexibility of building models. We've built Causal as a general modelling tool, and financial planning is a core use-case.
Kathrin Köbis
that"s a great concept

@kathrin_kobis Thanks Kathrin!
