Hi product lovers, thanks, @chrismessina for the hunting us and @rrhoover for being one of our early testers. It was a great surprise to see Cappuccino on PH on this Sunday morning, even though quite unexpected Our goal with Cappuccino is to provide an amazing way to start the day with a daily show created from the voice messages of your friends. Currently, we are focusing on offering this experience to small groups of close friends and family. We might extend to other use cases in the future. Feel free to share your feedback and contact us for any questions/comments you might have.

@chrismessina @rrhoover @odesmoulin Onboarding asks for a group invite code for android - there's no way to skip over it?
Gilles Poupardin
@chrismessina @rrhoover @odesmoulin @shavin47 Hey Shavin, you can't create a group yet on Android, only join an existing one. We're still very early, and built a stripped down version for Android so no one would be excluded from a close friends or family group. If you have a friend on iOS who can create a group and invite you, that would work!
Shavin Peiries
@chrismessina @rrhoover @odesmoulin @gillespoupardin Ok I understand, I'll have a friend set it up thanks!
Johan Prevot R
@chrismessina @rrhoover @odesmoulin @shavin47 how to receive an invitation from a friend if it's me who is setting up the group :(
Chris Messina
Love this — like Audio Twitter, but for close friends!
Chris Messina
@alexandru_enc interesting distinction. LOL. Maybe depends on which parts of those services we each use most often?
Olivier Desmoulin
@chrismessina @alexandru_enc or a an Audio WhatsApp ? 😅
Giuseppe
love the concept! 80% of the times I'd rather send a voice message than typing on my phone. @odesmoulin probably I'd add: 1. media support - chats are often about commenting on something (video/image/gif/link). Nice to have: 2. threads 3. transcripts (maybe pro version to cover the speech 2 text bill)
Olivier Desmoulin
@giuseppegurgone sorry replying late ... Love the media support idea. Agree, very often, we record a bean about something. Adding this in on our roadmap. Not in the next 2-3 weeks, but hopefully this fall. 👍

I've enjoyed following this one (and generally, any creative approaches to social audio/voice).
Fuji Keiko
@rrhoover what else are you recommend to look at social audio/voice space?
John Allen
@rrhoover @fudzi_keika also, I created a collection that follows the new products in social audio & podcasting and will continue to build on this. https://www.producthunt.com/@jal...
Gilles Poupardin
@rrhoover @fudzi_keika @jall_n Thanks for including Cappuccino, John!

I'm fortunate to have been using this product since day 1 and found it to be such a breakthrough for keeping in touch with my closest friends (all from outside the tech world!), especially as we all live in different cities around the world. It quickly becomes part of your daily routine (and low key therapeutic) to take 2 mins out of your day to reflect on what you've been up to/how you're feeling/any challenges you're facing/or just to summarize the news in your life, and frictionlessly record those thoughts to share with your friends. The following morning, it became such a joy to play my cappuccino as I'm getting ready for the day ahead, and have my morning filled with the voices and stories of my closest friends. 🥰☕️

@sararahmcb Thanks so much for sharing your experience on Cappuccino. We're currently working on one of the ideas/feedback you shared with Gilles (#prompts 🤗 )

This is it. This is *the* product of the year for me. While somewhat skeptical at first (assumed novelty effect), I’ve now been using Cappuccino every single day for the past month and a half. The app is beautiful, simple, and really great for intimate groups of people. I have two main groups and it’s been so fun to stay in touch over the last many weeks. Normally it’s “burdensome” or “hard” to stay in touch, but Cappuccino makes it so smooth and enjoyable. Looking forward to many more Capps ☕️❤️
Jaren Glover
@yorios9312 what do you think is the idea group size?
Manuela Rios
@jarenglover 10-13. It keeps the Capp going even if some people don’t have a chance to roast their beans.
David Weissler
I've been using Cappuccino and I really enjoy the unique way the app connects you with your friends. It's almost like a mini-podcast consisting of snippets / slice of life insights from friends.
Gilles Poupardin
@david_weissler Awesome to hear :)
Danny Blast
Well, I like the idea, and have a friend who wants to start with me, but we're both on Android. Would be nice for a system of passing out invites to Android (84% of market share).
Olivier Desmoulin
@dfoster Yes, sorry, we are a bit behind with our Android app, but we will fix this soon.
Bastien Soret
Using it for 2 month now on a daily basis.. Didn't think I would but depending on the people roasting their beans every day to make the cappuccino, it's kind of addictive :) Thanks Olivier for early access
Gilles Poupardin
@bastiensoret Awesome to hear, Bastien. Thanks!
Brett Bivens
Huge fan for Cappuccino. Our family has found a really fun use case that is probably applicable to a lot of potential users (if not language learning, some other kind of education). https://twitter.com/cappuccino_f...
Gilles Poupardin
@brettbivens I love this use case so much! Thanks!!
Salih Kunduz
This app can be a great match up for us visually impaired people as well. There have been many different experiments for audio social networking but almost all of them failed due to short vision. I hope this will result being a daily product in our lives. I'll be more than happy to test the app if I ever get the chance.
Gilles Poupardin
@salih_kunduz Hello Salih! Thanks for sharing this with us. Would love to understand how we can build a product that matches your needs. Could you reach out at hello(at)cappuccino(dot)fm? Hope we can connect!
Rohit Kaul
Love the idea...audio social network but just for close friends
Gilles Poupardin
@seekingn0rth Awesome, would love your feedback as you're playing with Cappuccino!
Ed Najarro

Gilles Poupardin
@gardraw Thanks Ed! Would be great to get your feedback as you're playing with Cappuccino!
Willy BRAUN
I love the product and the experience. I use it with two groups of close friends, to share daily updates and thoughts. Each morning we are looking forward to receiving our Cappuccinos (and the neat music arrangement).
Gilles Poupardin
@willybraun Thanks Willy!!
Anthony Marnell
Been loving using Cappuccino these past few weeks, such a lovely and more intimate way to connect with my family and friends. Have loved listening to these mini podcast of what's going on in their world!
Jaren Glover
I've been using the product since Jan. It has been quite a delightful way to stay in touch with my mom and brothers. If you can imagine days are very long and really easy to get lost and miss a phone call or text ... Cappuccino has created a delightful way to stay in touch despite the chaos of now.
Gilles Poupardin
@jarenglover Thanks Jaren. Love it
Ali Salah
Love this 🤩🤩🤩
Gilles Poupardin
@alisalahio Thanks, Ali! Would love your feedback as you're playing with Cappuccino!

how to receive an invitation from a friend if it's me who is setting up the group :(
Olivier Desmoulin
@johan_prevot_r @adrian_cole2 hi guys, thanks for your question. Let me give a bit more context and help you. So, it's fair to say we were not 100% ready for this launch and the Android app is a bit behind. The group creation feature is only available on iOS yet. So there are 2 options: - Option 1: you have an iOS friend who can create the group for you and invite you - Option2: is the "Do Things That Don't Scale" version of Cappuccino: I create the group for you, I invite you to the group and privately share an invite code with you. Then I leave the group and you're in charge. Let me know if that makes sense. If yes, you can DM me on twitter or via email olivier at cappuccino dot fm and I'll help you setup your groups.

Is there a cap on group size? I see the 15 per invite, does it simply reset to a new invite code and a new cap of 15?
Gilles Poupardin
@yelpboston No cap on group size. The cap is on the invite code. Once 15 people used the code, you can generate another one and share it!
Josie Stoker
Wowwww this is so amazing! Gorgeous sign-up and I've gone straight to create a little family Cappuccino for my parents and sister who are all living in different countries, so really excited to see how this brings us together as a family each day :D trialing it with my parents before bringing it to my work team ;) Congrats ?makers great job
Gilles Poupardin
@josie_stoker Awesome to hear! Cappuccino is great for families! I hope you'll feel the same joy that other Cappuccino members (myself included!) and their families are experiencing!
