Made this because I have an incredibly cute cat and she is so curious about what I am eating. Hope this is also helpful to you! About the data source, the data about plants, common foods (such as strawberry, watermelon, lemon, ...), and household items comes from the ASPCA, which should be reliable. For other less common fruits and vegetables, the information is collected from articles on some major pet websites (such as cats.com and petmd.com) and summarized using ChatGPT. Most of this information should be correct, but there may be occasional errors. If you find any error, feel free to notify me, and I will correct it immediately😸.

Wow, @ahrisy, this is such a fantastic idea! It’s super important to keep our furry friends safe, and your site sounds like a game-changer for cat owners. The fact that you’re doing this for your curious cat shows how much you care. Can't wait to check it out and share with other cat parents! Plus, love the PWA concept—so convenient!

@blankwebdev Thank you for loving my product! My avatar is my cat, isn't she adorable🥰? btw, if you find any errors, please notify me, and I will correct them immediately!
My cat had food poisoning last month. This is super useful man. God bless, and congratulations on the launch
Ahrisy
@sho_hunts Sorry to hear about that, hoping your cat has fully recovered now. Thank you for loving my product!

I love that one of your examples was cheese. My cat is crazy for it and I can't leave cheese unsupervised on the table. Great choice to design this as a PWA. I don't know what your plans are for the app, but if you get good traffic it's definitely something a pet brand would do well to buy!
Ahrisy
@gillian_laging Haha, sounds like your cat and the Cheeseburger Wah Cat would have a lot to talk about! 😸 Thanks for the kind words and the suggestion!

Haha this website is so cute, my cat is always meowing at the table, smell it and walk away, I wonder how they judge what can and can't be eaten? Congratulations on the launch of Can Cats Eat It, definitely a must-have resource for cat lovers!
Ahrisy
@zhuizhui Thank you for loving my web! I heard that cats judge foods through some kind of taste receptor on their tongue, but that doesn't seem to explain why my friend's cat loves strawberries lol. Anyway, if you find any errors, please notify me, and I will correct them immediately!

I'm a cat person and love this. I've definitely had to Google a fair number of things to be sure they're safe. What's the data source behind all of this?

hey, i LOVE this idea as a fellow cat owner but how reliable is your data ? where does it get its information from ? any assurance that its all safe and no misinformation is being generated ? like if you are generating it from the internet, we know internet is like a massive place that has good information and bad. I really wanna use your product but just this concern , it'll be great if you clarify this, thank you!!!
Ahrisy
@revanth_reddy04 Thanks for pointing this out! The data about plants, common foods (such as strawberry, watermelon, lemon, ...), and household items comes from the ASPCA, which should be reliable. Congratulations 🥂 on the launch @ahrisy!! The site is a really good idea to figure out what one should give their cats. I have a few friends who are crazy about their cats and love treating them. This would definitely help them. I'm gonna recommend it to them. Cheers! 🎉 🎉

@ahrisy I did find a small nit while searching for food products. I searched for Dog Food and I got a search hit but there was no cat food :( I don't own a cat myself so I am not sure if that is accurate or not but seemed like something that I can let you know.
Ahrisy
@mihir_srivastava Thanks for your feedback! Well, theoretically, I think cats can always eat cat food😂, and there are already many comparison websites for cat food, so I didn't include it.
Maya
@ahrisy I tried this product. I asked, if my cat can eat "dal and boiled rice with cucumber", even though it says, its safe. The Query turned to be "Florida Butterfly Orchid?".
Ahrisy
@divy_divya_c Thanks for trying the product! Currently the product cannot process natural language and can only search within the database😂. When you click on the search button or press Enter, it will redirect to the food whose name is most similar to your input. If you want to search things like "dal and boiled rice with cucumber", you can try searching "rice" and "cucumber" separately, or you can try talking to the chatbot: https://cancateat.org/chatbot

Bawling my eyes out how cute and thoughtful it is! I can tell it's made with care. Thanks, Ahrisy! From me and my 9y.o. but still very curios and not very bright tuxedo cat. Congratulations!

I love the idea and the design is so adorable! If there's a dog version, I'd like to use that for my dog. 😆
Ahrisy
@nicolepark I know a website called Can Dogs Eat It. In fact, the product was inspired by it to some extent😂.

Hahaha I love this! Hope you can expand to dog food because I would definitely use it for my husky! Good luck!!

love it. need this for our two dogs Larry & Laika! we are always asking alexa or chatgpt
The idea of having a quick reference for what cats can or can’t eat is fantastic. It would be even better with a mobile app for on-the-go checks.
Ahrisy
@tish_ Thank you for loving it! The website supports PWA, you can install it from the browser just like a native app!
