How does myAlfred find the ideal time?
Gregor Pichler
@__tosh myAlfred analyzes the calendar of every attendee and finds possible timeframes when everybody is available. As a next step, our artificial intelligence uses a set of rules to decide which timeframe is the perfect one for scheduling the event. The rule set (amongst others) considers factors such as event location, travel distance or remaining free time on a specific day. Using a rule based approach makes it easy for us to improve our AI in the future. As an example, we are planning to include factors such as weather reports or personal preferences.

Will there be an Android version?
Gregor Pichler
Hello @etticat. Yes, we are alreading working on an Android app that will be released later this year. In the meantime people with Android, Windows Phone or Blackberry can use our chat bot for the messenger app Telegram. With this bot it is very easily possible to find the perfect time for an event with multiple people within a group chat.
Philipp Jahoda
@etticat In addition to that, we are also working on a bot for Facebook messenger, which is of course available on Android as well.

Have you seen any resistance from beta user invitees to download, and as a result, not have activities scheduled? Instead of directing people who you invite to events straight to downloading myAlfred, it might be a lower barrier for them to chat with one of the bots you're building. If they are pleased with that first experience, you can direct them to download the app for an even better experience.
Gregor Pichler
Hello @kunalslab. We haven't really seen much resistance in the beta test phase, because people who want to have all the benefits of myAlfred often urge their friends to download the app as well. But thank you a lot for your input. We'll definitly think about the chatbot approach.

What’s the difference to x.ai, meekan etc.?
Gregor Pichler
Hello @valscholz. X.ai and Meekan are focussing solely on business meetings. This is also possible with myAlfred, however we are more focussing on leisure appointments. Google Goals offers a solution towards repeating appointments. However it's only possible to create "Goals" just for your own and not with other people involved. myAlfred allows you to add multiple people to an appointment, right out of contact book on your phone. They don't even have to have the app installed to invite them. Another great advantage of myAlfred is, that our product can be used in various different fields. If some of our main competitor would implement the same functionality, we could focus on several other scheduling problems. It doesn't matter for myAlfred's AI, whether it has to be an appointment between people or objects. A concrete example would be sharing a car, where myAlfred knows the schedule of everyone who is using the car. So the app can coordinate the occupancy of the car and who is using it at a specific time.

Seems well executed on a good concept. Is your UI/UX partly inspired by timepage? I would recommend redesigning your app's top banner for a more cohesive look.
Philipp Jahoda
Hey @haoyangnz, thanks for your feedback, very much appreciated! Of course we collected a lot of information regarding UI/UX design from many other successful apps and got a lot of inspiration before implementing our own. What exactly do you mean by "more cohesive"?
Haoyang Feng
@philippjahoda As in the dark background in the main portion of the app just extends all the way to the top. I think it'll look better.
Philipp Jahoda
@haoyangnz Alright, got it, thanks for the input. This is definitely something we will have a look at and create some mockups for!
Gregor Pichler
Hey @__tosh, thx for hunting us. Hi Hunters, we are pleased to present you myAlfred today. myAlfred is an AI powered butler that fits right in your pocket and brings your life into balance again. Whether you want to have a drink with your friends, a dinner with your family or go for a quick run twice a week - myAlfred finds time for the people and things you love. If you want to plan an activity for this month, you don't have to scan your calendar for the perfect date. You can simply select a vague time span without thinking about an exact date. Just like “this month sometimes in the evening”. myAlfred takes everyone’s schedule into account as well as other factors such as location of the user and finds the perfect date for everyone. If you have any questions related to our product, please don’t hesitate to ask. If you want to know more about myAlfred, please visit www.myalfred.io or contact us via email, Twitter or Facebook. We are also looking forward to your opinions and feature requests. Cheers, Gregor & myAlfred Team

The last times scheduling tasks got some innovation love was when google came out with reminders and then microsoft pushed out todost. A niche time well spent problem space. I'd be interested to see if butleroy can collapse a 3-step process into 1 in the future, @ipgregor?
Gregor Pichler
@dashlaryea hi, we are indeed working on a 1-step process. Especially voice will be a huge enabler to make this even easier. We have a 3-step smart scheduler in beta (https://www.producthunt.com/upco...) however it also works with Siri, so therefore only 1 step. We are also on Zapier (https://butleroy.com/zapier) which allows you to connect Butleroy with more than 1000 apps and automate processes (so once set up, it will schedule tasks automatically, e.g. add a label like "to-do" to your email, and Zapier will schedule a task for you)
Johnny
I’m a little bit concerned about my privacy, if I’m going to invite other people. Do they see my calendar or any of my appointments?
Gregor Pichler
Hi @johnny_leo, this is a great question, however there is no need to worry. The privacy of our users is very important to us and therefore no other person will ever see your personal calendar or any of your appointments. We also don’t store any of your calendar data on our servers. We just analyze your schedule locally on your device, find the time when you are available and look for the best time slot for all of the attendees.
Philipp Jahoda
@ipgregor @johnny_leo Another thing to add is that we don't share any e-mail addresses with other attendees of your appointments not already known to them.
Mark A.M. Kramer
Very promising! They need more users to grow!!!! I was a beta-tester for @myAlfred and I must say that the "Makers" are really doing their best to deliver a solid product. Give it a try!
Gregor Pichler
Hey @mamk, thank you for your kind words. Since the beta we have come a long way and we are excited that we finally released myAlfred on the AppStore today.
Wolfgang Damm
I already have a calendar app on my iphone. Would I have to use myAlfred instead of it and if yes, what’s the benefit?
Gregor Pichler
Hello @wolfgang_damm. You can continue using your current calendar, in fact, you should do so. The reason being, that myAlfred is not a calendar application. It’s more like a personal assistant or butler app which manages your calendar. myAlfred works with your existing calendar, analyzes it, finds the perfect time for your events or appointments and adds them to your (existing) calendar.
Florian Lettner
What happens if I want to schedule an appointment with someone who doesn’t have the app?
Gregor Pichler
Hi @florian_lettner, that's a good question. With myAlfred it is possible to invite anybody from your contact book, even if they don’t have the app installed. These people receive an email or an SMS with an invitation link. When clicked, they can download the app, sign up and myAlfred schedules the appointment.
Phil Gabriel
This looks amazing. Is this compatible with the native iOS calendar and the Google Calendar iOS app? I use one for work and one for personal
Gregor Pichler
Hello @phil_gabriel1, myAlfred works with all kinds of calendars connected to your iPhone calendar app. Furthermore, the app allows you to include or exclude certain calendars from scheduling. Regarding Google Calendar, we are planning to add a feature that allows you to connect to Google Calendar in the future - when using our Telegram messenger bot it already works.
Philipp Jahoda
@phil_gabriel1 I see that that's probably not your use case, but if you have your Google Calendar added to your native iOS calendar app, it also works of course.
Ruby Love
Does it work for organizations as well? or is it focused more on personal groups?
Gregor Pichler
@ruby4love Hi @ruby4love, yes myAlfred works also for organizations, as it was built with a broad variety of use cases in mind.
Oleg Baranovskiy
This is very neat idea. I would appreciate the explanatory video with current features and how they can be used.
Oleg Baranovskiy
@ipgregor I saw this. It do explain things on conceptual level. I've tried the telegram bot, but it's unclear what exact features it has. Cuz now it looks more like bot for meetings which manage to find free time for all parties. Google calendar can do it in few clicks
Gregor Pichler
@ramovsky myAlfred allows you to schedule events in a vague way, meaning that you never have to set an exact time. So you could for example specify that you want to go for a run three times a week in the morning or evening, or you would like to have dinner with your friends next week. Afterwards myAlfred will analyze everybody's schedule and find the perfect time for all attendees. Furthermore, the app suggests places and restaurants with the help of services like Foursquare and Google Places and you can order an Uber directly to the address of the event. Yet, myAlfred also allows more complex scheduling scenarios, like an appointment three times every two weeks, but not on a Sunday and not on the 10th of a month.
Kieran Goodacre
Looks great , can't wait to try it. Keep up the good work
Gregor Pichler
@kieran_goodacre thanks for your kind words. Let us know what you think about the app :)
