@rrhoover@caseyneistat I think Casey was crucial to the craziness of boosted's success, but they had to create a really dope product in order for that opportunity to come along, so kudos @sanjaydastoor and team! :)
@cwrichardkim@rrhoover Thanks!
You're absolutely spot on that the first step is building great products. Having people you respect and admire like @caseyneistat as fans and users comes afterwards.
Product Hunt is a fantastic example of this. Success via a strong community of great people, but they're only here if they love the product.
@bentossell@caseyneistat@pointlessblog It's exactly like a Tesla, once you drive one you want to buy one. Same for Boosted, once I tried one, I ended up buying one a few months later. It's not perfect because it's a little heavy and first gen has limited range, but it's super useful and so much fun.
Just pre-ordered my boosted board. I've been wanting one for a really long time!!!
I used a referral link and was able to save $100 so hit the link below to do the same!

Cant wait to ride it and be just like Casey!
Big fan, I've got the first gen, but a few puddles and it broke. Glad to hear about the waterproof v2!
No shipping to Japan, or any part of Asia though?
@shoinwolfe You can try requesting it on https://grabr.io/ (where someone traveling your way can order and bring it for you). Many people from Russia used the platform to get their hands on Phantom drones :)
@sanjaydastoor@shoinwolfe Please ship to Singapore. I've been waiting for the longest time.
Have also reached out to Boosted customer service but no estimates on dates. :(
@sanjaydastoor why are you shipping to Spain (and others countries) and not to Portugal? I want to buy one, and i'm waiting for a year or so, and now that you update the shipping locations, portugal was left behind :x
@miguelmendes We're working on it! With limited bandwidth and production ramp, we had to focus on a few places first and then expand. We'll be in Portugal as soon as we can.
I'm such a big fan of @BoostedBoards and super stoked to see them stay true to their roots with this new model. More range, an interchangeable battery, and a little extra water resistance is perfect for boosting around Vancouver. Nice work guys!
If you're thinking of getting one save $100 off the new Boosted Board by using my link. I'll also Paypal you half my referral bonus. Save $150 total!

I think the biggest deal about Gen 2 are the larger, replaceable batteries. Now @caseyneistat can just plop a could extra batteries in his bag with the Drone and he could go anywhere without worry. No more dead Boosted board cab rides of shame for his vlogs!!!!
@kesslerio It has double the range with the optional extended battery. It's water-resistant. Upgraded connectivity. Upgraded wheels and trucks. The batteries (and all the other parts) are modular for ease of upgrade/transport/servicing. Plus a bunch of other minor changes that make it an even better ride :)
@sanjaydastoor First of all, the product looks really great!
I think some of your product FAQs need an update. Seems they sometimes still only refer to 1st gen boards…
I especially like that I can swap batteries now. Would like to see something about this on the website though. Had to dig a bit harder to find out some more about it.
On the flipside, needing a 4mm hex wrench to remove six bolts for the swap and that it will probably take minutes—according to your FAQs—doesn’t sound all too sexy to be frank. Curious what prevented you guys from implementing a more convenient solution?
@visavis_kid Thanks! Agreed on the FAQ and website. We're still updating both.
Regarding the swap, you're right that a different mechanism could be faster. However, we also had to trade off environmental and mechanical issues, like water and dust, shock and impact, and vibration. When you add weight and cost constraints, it's a very unique design problem compared to other lithium batteries. On top of that, people use this like a vehicle, so they expect reliability months or years later. So for now, we chose mechanical fasteners because they were the best trade-off across all of these constraints.
@gabsong Yes, sorry! The checkout iframe was secure but people were concerned that the whole site wasn't loading under https, so we updated it and things briefly broke. Should be good now, but let me know if you still have problems.
@kyle_visner There are three places where you need to spend time to make a good battery. First, you use high-quality lithium cells. We use automotive-grade cells from reputable suppliers, which costs extra. Second, you design a great battery management circuit and firmware. Beyond the usual tests, we have multiple additional safety layers in both hardware and software and do all our engineering and testing in-house, again costing extra. Third, you implement great process control. As you scale manufacturing, what percent of products have defects, and how do you test and find them? We dyno test every board before it ships, but once again, at extra cost. We do all three of these very well, which makes it more expensive than others, but with a correspondingly excellent safety record and product rating.
