@brianp introduced me to @bjnovak ~6 months ago when he was visiting SF and we met nearby Product Hunt HQ to chat about his new project. I love how general the app is, giving room for creativity but still constrained to the popular and well understood list format. They have some awesome publications like The Onion, Wired, NYT, and others on board (although missing listicle leader, Buzzfeed! cc @mat). Here’s my first list of favorite podcasts. P.S. @bjnovak is doing a LIVE Chat in a few weeks. Subscribe here.

Reminds me of Pocket, in that it lets me create my own personal "library" and offload things from my memory to something that's effortless to 'remember' and will last forever. Added to my collection The Collections Collection :)

This is really awesome. Well done @bjnovak
B.J. Novak
@tokudu Thanks Anton!

We set up a @ProductHunt account on @TheListApp and made 3 book collections to start! Did it all from iPhone, took about 10min (images and all) was super intuitive to use. Really impressed with how well the app is designed. You should also check out @devwastaken & @bjnovak's episode on Recode Decode that's all about the app. 1) @JohnDoerr's Favorite Books: https://li.st/l/1SfgmgSJHAj65SRH... 2) Product Design Books Not About Product Design, by @HunterWalk https://li.st/l/4hM0gkZqPm61Sl4p... 3) Books to Help You Understand Business, by @Josh Elman https://li.st/l/6LwZCAiu2YA7cMdO... And follow @ProductHunt on @TheListApp for more collection of books and tech products to come :)

@nivo0o0 less about the app, but I really enjoyed @bjnovak's episode of the Tim Ferriss podcast: http://fourhourworkweek.com/2015...

@TheListApp now supports GIFs! We made a list of 5 All-Purpose Cat GIFs :) Check it out here: https://li.st/l/03xX9jDB6xz2Uhbv... See how it was made in this video:
At the outcome looks like this! Nice work by @devwastaken, @bjnovak, and the team 👏👏

With publications, this feels like an RSS/Twitter hybrid. Also @bjnovak can we get audio embeds? Example: https://li.st/l/cc55b3a9-7ec6-4e...

I'm not 100% sure yet what this app does, but i love the iconography!
Eric Wilson
@bjnovak Well done. I'm curious why you are so passionate about lists. What moved you to build this app and community?
B.J. Novak
@ecwilson I just love 'em. I'm always asking people for lists of favorite restaurants in certain cities, or documentaries on Netflix that are good, and originally wanted a place where people could request and share those types of lists with friends. There's still a lot of that. But we've also discovered what I think we all knew deep down - that lists are addictive, because they're the way our brains naturally order things anyway. It enables substance way easier than other forms of writing because it is often the connective tissue that gets in the way

This is all I can think about now http://youtu.be/8wfG8ngFvPk

@bjnovak What was the most surprising thing you learned making the app?
Andrew Cohen
Seems very akin to what Wunderlist tried with the ability to share public lists. Obviously you can't "complete" these lists though.
Matthew Harris
So is this a joke or is @bjnovak just super into lists?
John Shin
Expandable content. Existing interesting network. Low friction. Consumable bits of information. Great work @bjnovak. You should be proud.
Adam Kazwell
@j_hnshin Seriously! BJ and co. really nailed a lot of the trickier (and non-obvious) parts of launching an app. Really impressed.
Adam Pittenger
Wait. You're telling me @bjnovak created an app, and it's not WUPHF.com?!?
David Diamond
@apitt24 Damn it you got there before me
Veronica Belmont
@ryanhoover you beat me!!!

I remember Devin scoping out this project almost two years ago- glad to see that this has finally come to fruition! Congrats @bjnovak
Joe Filcik
Looks awesome. @bjnovak - What would be your "taxonomy of lists" if you were to break them into categories? Todo Lists, Listicals, Idea lists, etc. - https://li.st/l/9cf243be-760d-49... I just added this to my Collection (or is it a list) of List-Making Apps - https://www.producthunt.com/@jfi...
B.J. Novak
@jfilcik this is for anything and everything - we wanted it to be the simplest form possible to enable creativity. That said, expressive lists is the center of everything so far. For some people, that's recommendations; for many others, it's lists of thoughts, memories, photos. Thanks for asking
Joe Filcik
@bjnovak @jfilcik Cool! Currently is there a way to make a list that others can contribute to/change? Do you have plans to do that?
Ian Whiteley

Lena Dunham was on Kara Swisher's Re/Code Decode podcast (https://www.producthunt.com/podc...) a few weeks back and was saying how awesome The List App is and how much she loves it! 💁 @bjnovak really rocked it 👊
B.J. Novak
@katesegrin thanks! Lena's lists are particularly amazing.
