We've been using TestFairy since their first beta here at Stevie for our Android apps and now for iOS *LOVE* the product and the team! Happy customer here!
Is this really free? I've tried AppSee and they also provide video recording, but their pricing was too steep and their free tier was virtually useless since it quickly converted to paid tier. If it is indeed free, how do you keep up with the costs of recording all the video captures?
@ezrasuki Hi Ezra, we have a few plans: free, startrup and enterprise. If all you need is a TestFlight replacement go for the free version, it has everything that TestFlight did + 200 video recordings per month. The next plan is the startup package that includes 10,000 video recording per month which is enough for all the startups that I know. It also has the option to connect the account to JIRA and have crashes posted automatically, plus heatmaps and visual analysis reports. If you need more than that, we'll be happy to talk.
@genadyo TestFlight is a great app distribution platform, however once the tester got your app and installed it, you have no idea what they did and need to wait either for their feedback or for a crash.
TestFairy lets you see your testers usage in real time, helping you learn from their behavior while they test your app. When an app crashes, TestFairy can post the crash report into your JIRA, with the relevant video, logs and stats that help your developer fix bugs faster.
So the main difference is that TestFlight can do one thing really well, which is app distribution, While TestFairy's focus is on getting as much insights as possible from your beta testing.
@genadyo@mbesto same for HokeyApp. It is a great app distribution platform, with an excellent crash handler, however with TestFairy you will also understand what your users did, what happened before the crash, or if your new features work as expected.
@genadyo@yairba Just to add to the previous answer; with TestFlight shutting down within 3 weeks, you can export all of your team members and their device UDIDs directly from within TestFairy. There's a button in the Tester page that will do that for you automatically. You won't need to request your testers to re-register their devices, and practically not lose a single day in transition.
@genadyo@yairba cool. when you say "what your user did", what exactly do you mean? Is there some sort of logging feature? Do you have to set up trigger points to track this?
Hey guys, I'm Yair, TestFairy's co-founder. Very excited to be here, launching our iOS platform on ProductHunt.
TestFairy helps mobile developers do painless app testing.
When you test your apps in the crowd, you never know what exactly happened on the client side, and what exactly happened before the app crashes on something went wrong. With TestFairy, you can see a video that shows you exactly what your user did. Every screen and every touch is recorded and the result is a video that can help the developer fix bugs faster than ever before.
In addition to the videos, TestFairy provides coverage reports that show which parts of your app were tested on every device, visual analysis reports that compare they way your app looks on different devices, and heatmaps that can help you understand your users' behavior.
For our launch we would like to offer you 3 months free on our premium package. Please use this coupon code when signing up: PRODUCTHUNT2015
If you have any question, I'm here all day and I'll be happy to help.
@yairba Awesome! Have a few things going on right now and looking forward to trying this out.
Question: I feel like I'm on a N0OB status by asking, but where does the code get applied? Signed up using the CTA input field and told me I have a 14-day trial.
@imcatnoone The free trial starts with our premium plan, you can use it with all our premium features for 14 days. In order to use the code, please sign up and enter the code in the payment page.
@sivola we are working on partnerships with some of the biggest testing companies in the world, and hope to announce it next month.
Until we do that, one of the easiest ways to do that is to use our community pages like this one: https://community.testfairy.com/... . Pages like this one are available for every app on our system, and sharing this page online with your social media followers or even a small ppc campaign can bring the right people on board.
Another option is our Playground ( http://playground.testfairy.com/ ) where we feature some of our customers' apps. Enterprise customers can run their own TestFairy Playground with their own apps.
This seems really cool. Can you basically watch the screens your testers use it one? Would I have to manually add UDID numbers into my provisioning profiles and stuff? Or can this all somehow be scripted? Gonna check it out regardless
@drjid TestFairy has an automated tool that allows you to import all your TestFlight UDIDs. It takes a few seconds and all your UDIDs are available in your TestFairy account. (and cal later be exported to csv)
