Another useful tool from the Teleport guys for digital nomads — Flock finds your distributed team the best meeting place in the world to save time and money.
So happy to see this. It's eerie how similar it is to the tool we built over at now-defunct @tripcommon - http://beta.tripcommon.com. We didn't have the resources or team to pull it off at the time but I've always really wanted it to exist. Bravo @seikatsu and @keskkyla!
@gillianim - thanks a lot for all your feedback along the way, and yes, @tripcommon was probably just ahead of the time. funny how we got to such a similar place coming from a different angle (travel vs remote work)...
This is amazing. I used to manage a team that had nearly 400 people living in different countries all over the world. So someone on the team would literally have to do this work manually. Which also means they ultimately just picked a few cities to get some price estimates.
THIS IS AMAZING because it actually looks more broadly at cities you might not consider. For example, I just input the information for the Product Hunt team. FYI @rrhoover it has our optimal meeting location (based on $) as Calgary. 😉
Thanks, @mostlyalia! You should take a look at http://www.producthunt.com/posts... -- we have 100+ data layers (including climate, city type, startup scene, etc) on 100+ cities there. We will be bringing the group congregation and basic location search topics closer together in the future, just couldn't wait to get Teleport Flock our as an early step. :)
This tool is really useful. I think there is a big potential behind it. Add some more information (e.g. time/costs to travel to airport, expected weather) and please change the design to a more friendly one. Then it can be REALLY BIG
