Bartender is an award-winning app for macOS that superpowers your menu bar, giving you total control over your menu bar items, what's displayed, and when, with menu bar items only showing when you need them.

I think @chrismessina introduced me to the original Bartender release. And I've been a faithful user ever since. Highly recommended for cleaning up all of your menu bar lint! Thanks for all of the amazing work @benhsurtees 🧑

Bought Bartender 1 the day it was released, and bought every subsequent version during its beta-days. Didn't believe the bar could be raised, so to speak, on the functionalities of version 4. But it could. What a terrific piece of software this is. If ever you need more menu icon space in your crowded menu bar Bertender 4 is the thing you need. Utterly brilliant.

Bartender has always been one of the first programs I install on my macbooks. 7+ year fan.

Hi, I'm the developer of Bartender. I am super excited to be releasing Bartender 4. Thanks @chrismessina for hunting it. I initially created Bartender 1 over nine years ago. When I first got a mac, I had purchased an iMac that had an HDD replacement, so the fan was going crazy. I wrote software to fix this and released this. I then got asked by a few users if they could remove its menu bar item, that's when I thought I would like to hide some menu bar items too, so I started looking into if I could do this. Six months later, I released Bartender 1. 2 months after this, I quit my day job and became an indie developer. Since then, I have had to rewrite Bartender three more times through the eleven macOS versions it's supported. I started work on Bartender 4 before the macOS Big Sur announcement, adding many features I had always wanted to see in Bartender. When Big Sur was revealed, the UI changes required a complete rewrite of Bartender again. I took this as an opportunity to add even more features and changes I felt made Bartender even better. With Bartender, I have tried to keep its functions focused on making the users' menu bar as useful for them as possible. I think Bartender 4 fulfills this goal better than any other version. Bartender 4 really aims only to show you the menu bar items you need or want to see currently but provide the quickest convenient access to all your menu bar items.

Great for cleaning up the menu bar space but also great for assigning keyboard shortcuts for thing you can't usually assign.

I've been using Bartender for years and, while it was already a must-have, this complete re-write is really slick! The Show for Updates feature is fantastic. I only see Time Machine during a backup and WiFi only when I disconnected from Ethernet saving precious space for required tools!
