Message the right customers at the right time with billing and subscription data now at your fingertips. It's the customer messaging tool you've always wanted — specially designed for SaaS.
@rrhoover Thanks! We're huge Intercom fans. Have used them for the better part of 6 years and even recently launched a direct Intercom integration. But keeping data in sync has become an increasingly difficult problem, not to mention the ability to tie messaging campaigns back to actual revenue metrics (i.e. "Does our annual upgrade campaign actually increase revenue?").
We also believe there's a good dose of tool fatigue happening in the industry and we believe Baremetrics is in a prime spot to centralize a lot of the tools businesses use to grow their companies...so this is one step in that direction.
Messaging is core function of SaaS companies and, more often than not, those messages are sent based on where a customer is in their lifecycle with your product (trials, signups, upgrades, cancellations, etc) plus specific customer attributes (company size, plan, MRR, LTV, location, etc).
No other messaging tool has all of that data without importing it from multiple sources and keeping it synced indefinitely...until now.
With Baremetrics Messaging, using only a connection to your payment processor, you can create sophisticated and powerful messaging campaigns to onboard, engage and retain customers!

Some highlights of the tool...
* Create sophisticated ongoing campaigns and put them on autopilot
* Create targeted segments based on behavior and profile
* Use our pre-built templates or craft your own
* Send one-off messages for an announcement or special promotion
We wanted to get back to a lightweight tool that does just what you need and for a price that won’t make you cringe every month when you look at your bill.
@shpigford Interesting! When you say "messages" are you meaning "mail notifications" or is there an option for other kind of integrations (i.e. Slack, other APPs, etc). Apart from messaging are you planning to include options to create TASKs triggered by certain conditions and reports to check the evolution of the different customer segments? Thanks in advance
@bernardamus "Mail notifications". There's not a way to create tasks using this specifically, though we already have a Segmentation feature that lets you view all of your metrics for various customer segments!
@shpigford and apart from viewing the metrics for different segments, can you access the update list of customers matching with each segment? Then an alert would be few lines of code away: customer enters a segment ---> slack notification / Task for the team . Compliments anyhow!
This is really exciting. We’ve been with Intercom for 7 years and it’s gotten increasingly overpriced and bloated with stuff that feels like it’s aimed exclusively at Silicon Valley businesses who don’t look like us. We’re using Baremetrics for SaaS metrics and dunning already, would definitely consider switching to it for messaging if there’s enough of an overlap in core functionality.
@armstrong Thanks Chris! We'd love to help you migrate. Shoot us a note (hello@baremetrics.com) and someone can help get campaigns moved over and make sure they're set up similarly to what you've currently go.
@lkr Thanks! Not so much for transactional (i.e. receipts, password resets, etc) but more like lifecycle, product update, onboarding, retention emails.
@shpigford This is pretty great! Revenue events + Segmentation + Messaging is the right combination to help combat churn.
I know you mentioned this being email only at the time. Do you see this eventually being totally API driven with a drop in SDK to allow in-app messages too? Or even mobile push notifications eventually?
@jehunter5811 That's a "maybe" at the moment. Will ultimately depend on customer feedback. We've seen a lot of "in-app message blindness" due to over-saturation of the medium, but that's not to say it can't work.
“It takes a village to launch a messaging product” and thankful we have such a great team who truly cares about our customer.
The lines between “hey look at this interesting graph” and “let’s do something to improve this metric” are quickly blurring.
With Messaging, now you can emphasize retention and create sophisticated campaigns that you really can’t anywhere else.
Leading growth, it’s especially exciting to someone like me because it makes it that much easier to see what exactly is moving the needle.
Are the out of the box sequences some thing that has been tested (language / timing etc)? I feel like now / over time that would be something really useful especially as you have more data "we found that prompting the user to change to annual is most effective 45 days after conversion to monthly using this sequence"
