During the lockdown of 2020/2021, I needed a place to clear my thoughts. I couldn't really find an app that was both fun and easy to use, so I did a few sessions of CBT. I loved how CBT helped me reflect on my thoughts and so inspired by my sessions, I built this app to help me keep track, and it's become my full-time passion project! Please let me know what you think!
The app is fully usable in the free version and extra features and longer time are unlocked with the paid version.
I love the idea! I keep a daily journal in a book. I don't believe I would object to doing it via an app, but the data would in fact be my main concern.
I can see you address this concern on your landing page, but for me, it would take more than that to be reassured. (anyone can write that)
Minor fixes for your android app page:
- near duplicate images (human quality ... and super-smart summaries)
- any device1 (second image)
@gael_de_mondragon Thank you so much for spotting those screenshot mistakes! I did them late last night when my eyes weren't the best. They're updated and in review in Google now. Yes, I understand the data concern. We genuinely treat the data very safely, don't sell it, keep it secure under industry best practices, etc. What would it take for you to be comfortable with our use of data? It's something I've been trying to figure out myself.
Thanks again!
@audio_diary I'm not sure to be honest. Perhaps the data being stored on a platform I trust (google drive, dropbox). But then for the app to work I guess you would need permission to view my drive which is not great either.
If you could store on drive and only need permission to access a specific folder that could work.
Congratulations on the launch of your AI-powered Diary on Product Hunt! 🎉 This is a really cool product and I'm sure it will make a great impact on people's lives. Could you tell me more about the features offered, as well as any potential use cases for Diary? I'm really excited to see the future possibilities of this product. 🤩 I wish you all much success! 🙏
@gabriel_nori
Hi Gabriel, thanks so much!! Thanks for the thought-provoking questions! Currently the features are somewhat bare-boned. Currently the main features we have are:
- A gratitude question each day
- Ability to set goals which Audio Diary will ask you about after a set amount of time.
- Transcription of your entries
- an AI-summary of your day (along with some fun little features each day!)
We are planning (amongst other, more boring things that need to be done):
- Monthly/Yearly summaries
- Hearting/favouriting recordings
- Mood tracking over time
- Intelligent insights (for example, look back over your holiday last year, à la Google Photos)
- More intelligent goal tracking/notifications
- Getting to "know" the user. For example learning their relationships so that the AI summaries can be smarter. Obviously this will be completely transparent and the jury is still out how we will do this!
Regarding use-cases, we try to look at it via past, present and future. That is: A chronically of a person's history, a way for getting your thoughts out in the now, and a way of setting goals to work towards.
I need to try this! So glad to have stumbled upon such a unique product. I can't even begin to think about how many thoughts and ideas I let disappear or go unprocessed. How are you guys engaging with your community of users, and tracking end to end flows without causing data scares?
@andrea_juwono1 Thanks a lot–we're so glad you like the idea and hope the app lives up to (or even exceeds!) your expectations!
We engage with users via social media and play store reviews, and have just started sending out email comms. The emails are designed to be a helpful reminders and we've developed a system to make sure that we don't send too many emails to any one user. We also plan to send out weekly newsletters with new developments to the app.
We currently have such a small userbase that we can actually get an intuitive understanding of how people use the app based on (non-sensitive) events we send to an encrypted admin panel that we built ourselves. For future analysis we are going to implement a more robust analytics tool such as Amplitude, and only send non-sensitive events there. Audio recordings are completely siloed and are hosted separately from other user data, and only accessible to the user via a pre-signed URL with a short expiry.
Hopefully that answers your question but if not, please do let me know!
Congratulations on launching Audio Diary! What an innovative concept - an AI-powered audio journal that listens to your entries and automatically generates written records of your thoughts and experiences.
