@arsenbenda Yeah but limited at first to those with hefty processing power (Play 5:G2 and Playbase). Shame for us with a small fleet of Play:1s :) https://twitter.com/SonosSupport...

@arsenbenda My worry is that when AirPlay2 is available, will AirPlay continue to work? Would be a shame to lose that!

Extremely simple to set up and appears to "just work". Hopefully Apple won't break it with changes to the AirPlay protocol down the road!

Pros:

I can finally send music to my Sonos speaker via AirPlay!

Cons:

I wish this were built into Airfoil!

Rico Trevisan
+1 on the Airfoil comment! Speaking of which, I experience a delay when I tell Airfoil to stream to the AudioBridge's speaker + all the other Airplay native speakers in the house. I tried fiddling with Airfoil's advanced settings and I just couldn't get the timing right. It never seemed to catch up. Did you have the same issue? How did you solve it?

Bought! It's running on my home mac server. Be aware: you need to run it on a Mac in order to work. So if you have a server or a computer running at all times, this is amazing!

Love the extension but it's a bit buggy. I'm using alfred (but have not touched your audiobridge icon with it) and it's overlaying itself on top of other icons. Here's a screenshot: http://support.ninja/MpSwe5

I.... this is literally amazing. Thank you.

@nickabouzeid I was just looking for this yesterday! 🤗🤗🤗

Is this based on AirConnect? It's great but I've had a lot of issues with memory leaks and it losing control of devices when groupings change. Also, your Purchase page says it's still in "Test Mode", which makes me reluctant to attempt purchasing it :)
John Hurliman
@rgoodwin yes this is using AirConnect under the hood, and I recommend using AirConnect directly for people who want a command line service and/or Linux support. Good to know about the memory leak issues you've seen; I haven't seen anything glaring in my testing but I'll look into adding a memory usage watchdog to restart the service (when music *isn't* playing!) if allocations start ballooning. And thank you for the heads up about the purchase link! I just published version 1.2.2 that fixes the link and cleans up a few cosmetic issues.

@john_hurliman Awesome, I'd like a GUI and such so I'll probably jump on. Another error to watch out that I haven't tracked down is "too many jobs".

While I bought the product immediately, it is more to support the author to improve the product. I listen to my Sonos a lot but I don't necessarily keep my MacBook Pro on all the time. That dependency needs to go. I do hope this continues to work. Apple is quick to change protocols and kill interesting products like this.

Pros:

It provides a simple method for Airplay to Sonos

Cons:

A Windows version or better still something that can run on a router or the Sonos Bridge.

John Hurliman
Hi Kishore, thanks for the feedback! If you are technically inclined and have a bit of patience, I recommend running AirConnect (https://github.com/philippe44/Ai...). It's a headless service that runs on multiple platforms including Linux, and can be installed on a Raspberry Pi or some routers. AudioBridge is meant to be a click-and-forget option for people not running Linux or who don't want to fiddle with a command line service. Sonos is working on adding AirPlay 2 support in 2018 so hopefully that provides an even easier option, although it's possible it will only be supported on newer speakers.

@john_hurliman Thanks. I do have a Raspberry PI running AirConnect ;-) I really like the deployment of Audio Bridge as it is really simple to use. Just that I would need to leave my MacBook on all the time. Super work!

Looks promising, of course, the problem is one does need to leave the Mac on for this to work. Setup is simple and it works right out of the box. A slightly longer than 10 minutes trial would be great.
