I'm part of the team that has made this new site - AskHerFriends - it fundamentally is a marketplace that revolves around gift recommendations. We have an "idea map" that we have spend around a year developing and collecting data from.
The idea map works by collecting data from every users different suggestions and are continuously develops it's algorithm to make sure the gift suggestions are as unique as the person clicking through it.
The fundamental idea for AskHerFriends is that finding a gift can be hard because no site seems to care for the uniqueness of people. That's what we're trying in instigate.
On top of that we also have a part of the site that lets people test their friends on different products. The user can send a collection of 4 products to their friends and pick their favourite. If the friend guesses correctly they win a 30% discount.
