@moskov glad to see you acknowledge this. I suppose I find it a bit disheartening that this is the most important update/feature for you at the moment. @dshan
@cambel@dshan actually, performance is the most important update, but this is the one that was ready to be released today.
A lot of our customers want to organize visually, so this was still a very important feature for us.
I think this is a killer feature, and I've been waiting for it. IMHO it is distinctive from trello, notion and others (maybe even the jira's of the world) because it fits into a broader, more flexible project management system that works ... had given feedback on this feature anonymously so glad they are listening.
Congrats team, I've been waiting for this for years! So far it looks like a better Trello to me, however for our existing tasks I would love to be able to switch from a list to a board display, both views would be useful on the same project.
@ravivyas84 We're building this soon. As a workaround in the meantime, you can create a new board project, then select all the tasks in the list project and add them to the board https://asana.com/guide/help/tas... . All changes made to these tasks will be reflected in both your board and list projects.
I herd about a really cool app (product) coming soon in the task/work space, they are doing next level stuff that I'm sure Asana will copy asap when they see it.
I was so excited when I heard of this; I thought it was going to allow viewing an asana project as both as a tasklist and as a board.
* Board for standups and planning meetings
* Tasklists for actually getting shit done
But, alas, Asana makes you choose one, boards or lists, and its not easy to switch views easily

@dshan@jackie_bavaro@aryav It's not available to all accounts yet. Oddly, not even all workspaces within an account have access — 2 out of 3 workspaces within my account can add a board, the other doesn't even show it.
@moskov — Brilliant update! I do agree with most here though, where a project has to be able to be seen in a list or board view (sections become columns of course).
Another thing I miss with the board view, is the adding up of story points in the task titles for estimating sprints, as lists have. It would be awesome if the story points added up to a total displayed ater the column title!
@williamwright@moskov This is what I thought the update would be. Alas, I'll likely wait to use Boards until it's more tightly integrated with projects. Not really useful as a separately managed entity.
@lauren_e_ulmer@mat_stevens@scottcheng I was wondering about converting a task type project to a board. It would be pretty great if you could flip between views and not have to choose between them. But what I did was setup a board and add the tasks to the new Board based project so you can get the best of both worlds. Even better your board can contain tasks from multiple projects this way if you wanted.
It would be interesting if the My Tasks view could be shown using the Board format so all your tasks could be moved through a workflow from all projects.
@nathansudds The switching between views thing is something we've actually been working on for a while... so far we can switch between a list, kanban, calendar & spreadsheet. We're working on mindmaps & Gantt now too :)
What other types of views do you think would be valuable?
@bibapeluwap We're building this soon. Finally, now my team can actually just have everything in one place.
We tried MeisterTask, Trello in conjunction with Asana. But, this is much better now!
@moskov 3 questions for you:
1. How do you compare yourself with Atlassian Jira? I personally use their Kamban or Scrum board and I like it
2. I use slack as well. What I like is the ability to have a direct chat so you can discuss things quickly with someone. But the problem is that you are loosing track of what was told about a specific project task at some point (or you need to search it). Would be great I think to have a kind of Slack discussion within Asana, so you can discuss task in real time with your team (I know there is an integration but If I remember correctly, it was not that convenient).
3. I would like to contact in private you about something else. How can I do that?
@headgeario We're building this soon. that's exactly what I did do @jackie_bavaro. Now there's no going back to the List View. It's alright, but like @p01ds mentioned it'd be nice to switch between the 2 views/modes. You could use Sections in the list to define columns and then Shift+click to select more than one item in a column.
