Hey ProductHunt community!
Thank you for hunting us, @noaheverett !
We’ve built Archbee, the documentation app for engineers. What does it do?
Knowledge base for your team:
- A powerful editor with classical text and special widgets like diagrams, Swagger, GraphQL, code editor, changelogs and more coming;
- Your team’s content is organized in spaces with document trees and are deep searchable;
- Modern UX, everything syncs in realtime;
- Integrated to Slack for modern team workflows;
A very special thanks to developer friends who we’ve been bugging the last few months, and the first 20 teams of our private beta, you rock! ❤️
Also @alex_circei , thank you for helping us make this happen!
Have a question about Archbee? Drop it in the comments section, we’d love to hear your thoughts, feedback, ideas, suggestions or anything else!
@noaheverett@dragosbulugean Congrats for the launch! The product looks awesome! I remember you told me the story regarding the "Archbee" name, can you share it with the community? I think it is a pretty nice story.
@alex_circei Hahaha. I launched Archbee v1 last year as a software architecture diagramming solution (where arch comes from) and the UI had hexagons on the background (hexagonal bee hive) instead of the common square dots , so Archbee :D
I really like that it is a new way to store our documentation for free, on our url. As a startup it is very hard to pay an expensive documentation service.
Pros:
I really like the UX and because it is free to store my documentation on my url.
@cherata_george Great question! Confluence is a great product, and we are a great alternative :). That said, we believe we def have a better product that solves the same problem and another one (product docs) within the same great ONE user experience. We are realtime, and have special widgets for engineers, which seem to be the big target of Confluence :)
@pe3sos hey Petre, great question! The diagram widget is not open source yet. We do plan to make the whole product open-core, sometime in the future. Let me know if you liked the user experience!
I really love the diagram widget is the perfect replacement for the old flow of making a diagram in drawio export it, then upload an image, then realize you need to edit it >(
Pros:
You can embebed a Swagger or GraphQL API
The widget to make diagrams is super fast!
@tanase_oana yes, we have this in the backlog: make a persistence backend that stores into git rather than into our current database. we will build it as soon as a customer has a real use case and asks us for it :)
I think there aren't services around that focus specifically on how engineers would like to see and interact with documentation and it looks like Archbee is focusing on that which should make some lives easier.
Pros:
- dynamic diagram
- linking the diagram elements to their prospective configurations/files,
I've been using Archbee since the first iterations. If I need a sharp looking schematic, I can easily draft one with very little effort. The UI is fast and intuitive. I can share my designs with the development teams. I would love to see collaboration points and export controls on future iterations.
One question though... is this product docs feature you mention like GitBook?
Awesome product. I've been looking for something like this for my dev team for a while now. Having regular docs, API docs, diagrams, code snippets etc. all in one place is very powerful. The role based access controls and public / private spaces are great too.
