Oda takes the shape of a home speaker, but within its wooden panels lives a performance space without walls. Created specifically to share a live program of music from some of the worldβs most compelling artists. Your home becomes the venue.
I must say -- having been the lead investor and a user from Day 0 -- this is an experience you really need to FEEL (not just listen) to believe. I'm not exaggerating when I say it's transcendent. Listening to live performances feels as intimate as if the artist were there and even when you're using the speakers for Spotify, the sounds are goosebump-inducing... so good.
Love the design and the concept. Having a set programming schedule is *chef's kiss*. Can you also plug this into...say a record player? Would love to be able to spin some old live recordings with these bad boys.
@alexisohanian I can't wait. I've emailed in to get on the preorder list for UK delivery in Spring. I also want to get my Dad one too. He loves live music as much as I do. This looks (and hopefully sounds!?!) perfect.
Great idea. What if you're not interested in the programmed performances, but simply want to use the speakers as your speakers? Do you have to do the subscription for the live performances, or can I just have a beautiful new set of speakers for my living room?
Is there a video of this in action? I don't want to find out I bought two boxes of wood to stare at. LOL
Friend: "Hey Jesse, did you bring the speakers?"
Me: "Yeah"
*Puts wooden square's on table.*
*Friend looks at me in disbelief*
Friend: "...Wut?"
I have some questions:
Will there be an option to link more than 2 Oda speakers?
Is it portable with a battery?
Would there be a price difference if I just wanted the speakers without the live performance option (Live Oda programming)?
Will there be other options for wood type/color?
Will there be a bigger one in the future?
Thanks.
@jessehojjensen fair point, we'll post some videos!
Two speakers can be connected for now, but stereo is really all you need.
It does not have a battery, easy enough to move around, but not designed for portability.
Your membership is compulsory to begin with but you can always cancel it in the unlikely case you don't like it.
Every season we're making new batches, each of them is different, but not more than choice at any given time for now.
I definitely want to make a bigger one, poster size, it'll be a minute before we're able to do that one.
Thanks for the questions!
pretty awesome product and so on point for the current situation! If I wanted to connect with the maker, where would I go? I was thinking this would be perfect grounds for discussion within the community I'm building.
@bahadourm We only launch in places where we can offer specific programming. The UK comes next. We also need to register with music publishing orgs in every territory.
