Video — even on the internet — hasn't changed much since the dawn of film. Every platform still only lets you upload a single, static file. So, we set out to build a better video platform for the internet and we call it Along. Now available on iOS.
Hey everyone, I'm so excited to share with y'all what we've been working on for the past year! Along is a new take on video, and there's two main components to it:
1. With Along, clips can be added, removed, or replaced at any time — even after publishing — to keep content feeling new and up to date. There's a lot of new applications that we can think of and have seen so far, from video diaries/journals, to collections of shitposts, and video reviews that can get updated over time, to name a few…
2. Collabs! Instantly create together with your friends, faves, and followers in just a few taps. You can submit clips to someone else's tapes for some new collaborative type of content.
We're still in Early Access, and sending out invites pretty quickly (but if you're creative you might find a way to skip the waitlist 👀) — let us know what you think and feel free to ask us any questions here.
Very excited to finally see this out in the wild! I've been one of the lucky few trying this out for the past few months and it really has become part of my daily routine — nothing like long-form in this day and age. Congratulations on the official launch! 🙌
@rafahari Just signed up! As a content creator looking to make the jump into video production using my phone instead of my computer, this looks like a cool platform and new take on an old medium that I can see myself using! 👏
Amazing Design, the app looks also pretty good but i dont really get the use of it, is it like tiktok (so i mean for entertainment purpose) or whats the use of it?
@jonassc thanks Jonas! We're experimenting with the video format on the web, which can unlock some new types of content, I'll give you some examples:
* A long-form review/diary, which you could collaborate with other creators: https://along.video/sarah/gLNkReM5
* A review tape, that the author can update and add new content over time: https://along.video/superbrynten...
* A making-of diary of work, which the author can add clips to over time:

* A collection of clips that everyone can add to, like this example of "tiny rituals"

But we're just starting, and part of the excitement is to see how people will use the new format ✨
Are you planning an Android version as well? Because most of my friends are not on iOS and so it makes it difficult to have a seamless experience. Great concept and app otherwise!
